Re: Effects of Greece dropping the Euro

From the view of national politics in the lending countries I believe it would be easier to convince people that "we need another bailout for OUR banks because of Greece", than "we need to lend THEM alot of money". The effects on the Euro would be interesting. If the Euro gets st...

Effects of Greece dropping the Euro

Greek 2-year bonds have a +25% yield atm and it is rising. Longer bonds have huge yields as well. One solution for the existing debts would of course be to inflate their currency only they have no control over it. For Greece it might therefore be a good idea to switch back to their old Drachma and i...

Re: Osama bin Laden is Dead

Why are people reasoning as if this was a police operation?
Killing bin Laden was a military operation. If he was armed or not doesn't matter. Soldiers kill unarmed enemies all the time and bin Laden was definately an enemy in a war.

You know medicaid pays less than cost in many cases, right? While I am not entirely familiar with the exact expenditure of every program and especially not on a case by case basis I do believe my argument was that US health costs (see the graph in the ft link) are to high along with, naturally, US ...

Deficit reduction does not necessarily mean having to fire people to lower employment costs. Another way is to reduce salaries for government employees, if this is done over a period of several years and especially if you make sure to have high enough inflation you just have to keep wage increases d...

Re: Obama’s budget and debt reduction proposal

I hope they will actually be able to reduce the deficit but I wouldn't be surprised if interest rates on US debt would have to rise quite a bit first so that people will be more in a panic over the debt than over their taxes or getting less money/services from the government. The quick way to do it ...

Why not go with Solaris. You have at least two film versions that you should be able to get your hands on as well as the novel it is based on. This should give you plenty of work on comparing the movies to each other and to the original book. This should also help you concentrate on differences in f...

From a safety aspect it would probably help. In many car-sports a helmet and other protective gear are used, and I guess they don't just throw it on for the good looks. If suppose people should wear them if they appreciate the extra safety over any negative effects the helmet may bring.
