Re: Sexy Accents?

It's absurd that in the UK there is a notion that US people are all drivelling idiots. Or even that there is only drivelling idiots in the US Or indeed that any one type of person is the norm anywhere. Aren't stereotypes weird. But I wasn't really arguing over any cultural stereotypes, just linguis...

Re: Sexy Accents?

I said earlier that I wouldn't say it was, I'm just saying that, depending on what you refer to by "Britain" it could be included as a British accent in that Irish accents come form the British Isles. I was more ranting about the uselessness of the term "British" as anything els...

Re: "Workaround" discussion

Anyone else have the inexplicably stubborn family member experience? I have too many to mention, but I can ignore them. It's stubborn co-workers that get me pissed off. Particularly ones that just don't want to learn. My biggest bugbear in the past few years is this: For some reason, everyone who u...

I didn't like it. Most accents ...

Re: "Scone" Pronunciation (Enhanced)

Scone like John.

UK - Geordie.

Around here it's considered the hallmark of poshness to pronounce it like cone.

Re: What's a fun and reliable way to make couch potatoes get

Or cubicle slaves, or lethargic schoolchildren, etc. So the idea is to make them put in some effort and work a little right? I'm thinking more of adults with these two.... How about toilet cubicle doors that weigh about 50kg and have to be slid upwards. You have to lift it and tuck under before it ...

Re: Help on gaining weight

I am already 20 years old but I'm small and skinny my height is 5'2'' I don't know my weight but I'm so skinny that I look like a skeleton. Nothing wrong with skeletal. I was a skeleton at your age. It didn't matter if I was a glutton or didn't eat for days; I stayed at roughly 55 kg. I already tri...
