Re: Robot9000 statistics

In general, anything that might make this into more of a game is a bad idea - as fiddler mentioned below, we did have a scoreboard up for a while, with unfortunate results. That said, some random stuff: - My logs of -signal show 207k lines were spoken in channel since it was created (meaning since S...

Re: Running out of things to code

A game where you have to program robots to compete against each other. Could be multiuser. Robocode is a decent way to do this. Comes with an integrated text editor to write the code for the bots AND a Java compiler to build them! Robowar - used to be an awesome game back in the 80s, still darn cool.

Re: Lost and Found from the Dream Girl Meetup

I saw plenty of pictures of the snake from the meetup - which doesn't prove it wasn't there before.

Boston area bike ride this sunday?

Since we apparently have an abundance of xkcders in the area (and maybe some meetup visitors still around), anyone up for a bike ride/rollerblading on the minuteman trail Sunday?

So what I am getting from your message, is that Team Fortress 2 will not be a stand-alone game that I can pay $20 or 30 for? It's just that I do not care about the episodes nor the portal game that much and really just want TF2. It will certainly be available as a standalone game once it's released.

Uh, I think you must be going to the wrong place.

Hi all - after going to the meetup, and really knowing all the IRC denizens, but none of you cool forum people, I figured I should at least say hi. I'm Dan, currently from Boston, MA (soon to be from Palo Alto, CA). 35, I code perl, game (both on computers and tabletops) and bike. I've been hanging ...

Be wary of frames - there are few cases where you should want to use them. More often than not, your site would be much easier to use if you avoid frames.

What I don't get about this sort of thing is why more people don't just host the broadcasts in places other than the US. The RIAA might be able to control the US, but it really has no say in other countries, and their equivalents there tend to have much less power. Of course, at that point the RIAA...
