Re:

Home Economics was probably the worst subject I could have ever chosen (clumsiness + sharp objects = Dangerous for Yellie) but it's a magnet for stupid people and stories. 1. One girl in my class tasted raw chicken to see if it was cooked. 2. We asked the same girl from above to taste the pasta and...

Re: Writing a first meeting agenda

I agree with space. Stay on topic and stay in control. Otherwise nothing will get done. Elect a board and then use http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert's_Rules_of_Order It doesn't sound like this is going to be a large group of people, so I don't think that the rules of order are necesary. In my expe...

Re: Teachers that CAN teach!

My physics teacher wasn't very good. He mostly rephrased the book and didn't understand how to explain concepts. Whenever I asked him a question that wen't slightly beyond the scope of our book he wouldn't really answer it, just sumarize the concept the question was based off of. I did, however have...

Re: Help me design the ultimate breakfast machine

I think the machine should also prepare grapefruit so that all the little slices are easy to get out. It should make cantaloupe as wll.

It was initialy clockwise, but after .5 hr of work I can get her to switch back and forth within 10s by looking at her foot in my periferal vision (this works for both switching)

very cool, the other things like this are much easier to see.

Re: What were your dreams last night?

My dance teacher found cancer in my right ear. So I went to the doctor and was put in a baby phat hospital gown. They removed the cancer and told me it would have killed me if I hadn't caught it. That meant I owed my dance teacher I life dept. I somehow managed to save him from Voldemort. Then we ta...

Re: The Oldies

Swing and ballroom dancing! I really wish more dancing was partner - grinding doesn't count. I'd much rather be led by a great lead than grind, too. The feeling of weightlessness and flying, and the cloudy feeling under your feet afterwards...Thankfully, there is a relatively large swing populating...

Re: What's wrong with highschool dances?

I agree that the formal dances are not very well done. I went to my prom because I wanted to be able to say that I went and I enjoy dressing up. I ended up having a good time because by the end of the dance everyone but people who were in "my group" (about 20 people left from 100) had gone...

Re: What can xkcd do for YOU?

I can follow a reasonable lead in the Cha-Cha and salsa. If the lead is really good I can follow the waltz and rock-jive.

I can sing alto.

I can set up modern tents, really quickly in the dark and rain.

I can light a fire.

Re: Worst songs to get stuck in your head

I HATE that song and I hate the music video even more... mostly becuase that guy's girlfriend looks like a total sweetheart nerd. If her boyfriend is a jerk who's so easily swayed by that ugly goth chick then she's the one who needs a new SO. If it makes you feel any better they're both the same pe...

Re: High and low point of your day

Wow, 7:45 is mighty early for a midterm to be half over. ya, it was a horrible time to have a test high: finishing my CORE paper low: remembering I have a calc midterm on Friday and almost no time to study on Thursday. This is not a very happy week for me (2 papers, 2 midterms, and co-curricular ob...

Re: Exotic Fruit

I love mangos, but I don't really consider them exotic

Dragon fruit is also really good.

I have also had "mother mango" wich isn't as good and about ten other fruits whose names I don't know because my host in Viet Nam didn't know their names in English (and she speaks english wonderfully)

low point: waking up at 7:45 am and realizing I had slept through half of my physics midterm
high point: finishing said test and feeling I did reasonablu well (its designed to be taken in 1.25 hrs)

Re: Strange or even mildly amusing things about your body

I have 5 freckles (out of 20 total anywhere) on my arm that make either a straight line or perfect porabola depending on wheter you think of it as if you laid my skin out flat or are following the contour of my arm. I recently had jaw surgery to correct my bite. Before this my front 8 teeth didn't m...

Re: POST HERE FIRST - INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Hi, I'm a freshman as College. I want to do a 3-2 in enineering or major in chem. I love to ballroom dance and am greatly amused by all the random conversation science nerds get in. Random note: Reading through the forums has just caused me to be late to my physics mid-term. Edit about 3 years later...
