Re: Thomas Fire

Most asphalt formulations used for road construction are flammable and have ignition points lower than the highest temperatures observed in high-intensity wild fires.

There are reports of roads literally catching fire during forest fires.

Re: Let's talk about Net Neutrality in 2017

Honestly, I think the bigger issue even than net Neutrality is how these telecoms are able to operate as monopolies by carving up service-areas to avoid directly competing for customers, and colluding with each other to lobby local, state and the federal government to lock out competitors. All the ...

Re: Loot Boxes and Battlefronts

I think calling lootboxes 'gambling' is burying the lead a bit. The problem with lootboxes is that they're psychologically predatory and addicting. Those aspects don't depend on whether you can 'win' or 'lose' anything of actual value or not. And while 'pay to win' has become conflated with lootboxe...

I honestly hope Facebook, Google, Pornhub, eBay, and Amazon all get together to form their own internet for even cheaper, because it does not cost anywhere near $39.95/m to maintain the fiber optic cables...The telecoms are making money hand over fist and are just getting greedier every year. MtG has traditionally sheltered itself from such things with it's rarity spread. IE, a magic pack has 1 rare, 3 uncommons, 10 commons, and 1 foil. Same ratio, every pack. So, no real gambling. You pay your money, you get your thing. Now, the secondary market does indeed price some rares far differe...

For all those opposed to net neutrality, I ask you, what would you do if your ISP would only let you access Pornhub for an extra $30 a month? Or worse; what if your ISP is run by "moral" individuals who don't think you should be viewing any pornography at all? They wouldn't do that becaus...

If you have a base that doesn't care what happens so long as the opposition party is hurt, it frees you to cater to the rest of your party. My understanding of the 140+ Million vs. 180+ Thousand number is that the smaller number is people who've actually had bank account/credit card information breached, while the larger is people who've 'merely' had their SSN + biographic data breached.
