Re: Leaked video: US army MURDERS innocent civs in Iraq

What missile strike? They used guns, I don't recall seeing a missile. No news reports said anything about a missile, either. The difference isn't trivial, a hellfire missile would have annihilated the people, the van, etc Around 34:45 in the full video. It's very clear they are using missiles, base...

I'm all for punishing war crimes, but I see this as a tragic mistake and not as a crime. How do you expect war crimes to be punished if you're in favor of trying in a court martial anybody who gives information about potential war crimes to the public? Somebody saying, "This looks suspect, I w...

Re: Leaked video: US army MURDERS innocent civs in Iraq

My main point was that the video wasn't objective, nor was the reporting. Ok, well the video's clearly biased, but it still contains usable information. Your claims about military procedure are what Luke challenged you on. I agree that firing on the group was a mistake, and a failure to get a PID b...

The guy who decided to fire on the van should be facing a court martial. FAIL. @GIKate Because they're not presenting it objectively. To talk about the crew: pilots can and do get PTSD. How do they get this without being on the ground holding their dead best friend? Because of collateral damage. The crews involved in the video were probably devastated by this at worst, or managed to rationalize that they followed the rules and tho...

As someone with a degree in psychology I will back Sybil. A Beautiful Mind is a great film but takes a TON of liberties with Nash's life.

I'm curious, is this for an intro level course or is it for an upper level course?

It may seem odd, but I wouldn't care so much about if/how man people it killed, as how people are killed. As I see it people would try to kill each other if limited to sticks and stones. Whatever it is for your field, if you have a basic skill that a prof needs they will probably let you work for free. If your GPA sucks and you are in your first year, you needn't worry because a lot of people screw up their first year. Some of us even go to grad school later :-)

Matrix Algebra question about identity matricies and scalars

So I was looking at some matrix algebra the other day when reading up on some AI algorithms, and I realized something. Lets say you have an n*n matrix, A A = [2, 3, 5] [4, 1, 7] [4, 9, 6] Now, you can multiply A by a scalar x, such as 3, and get B. Or, you can multiply that scalar 3 by an identity m...
