Re: Cool games on the interweb

For me, Burn the Rope takes back seat to Magic Pen. Magic Pen is incredibly awesome.

Does it remind anyone else of a game called Phun?

Yeah, but still pretty fun.

Two awesome games are here. The Ortek one would be among my favorites if not for the zomg l4gzorz when a lot of things are blowing up at once.

Re: Mouse movement and clicking

All right, I'll give the Java a try. Thanks. I'm trying to find a way to take an image from a file and draw it in another program. And why would you want to do that over a more direct (programmatic) way? Say, like, reading in the image, manipulating it, and writing it to another file? I want the out...

Re: Cool games on the interweb

Well, there's the bubble you get that just appears, and it's just a translucent white disk, and then it eventually becomes dark blue near the middle and white around the edges. I think that's the last one.

Ah, I forgot to mention: it would have to run while I have another application selected. Would that Java program do that?

And I use a Mac, although AHK does sound neat.

Speaking of bubbles, Bubble Tanks is crazy fun. The best form I've been able to reach is where you have a bubble around you all the time and it's white near the edges and bluer near the middle.

Mouse movement and clicking

Does anyone know how to write a program that will move and click my mouse? Python would be the most convenient language, but I haven't been able to find a way with it.

Edit: it would have to run while another application is selected, and I use a Mac.

Hm... that's too bad. Thanks for letting me know, though.

Out of curiosity, is it that nobody knows of a method for finding the roots of a high-degree polynomial, or that someone has proven that no such method exists?

Roots of a polynomial

I have a polynomial (namely, 3x 6 +2x 5 -8999x 4 -x 2 -2x-3) that I want to find the roots of, exactly (for instance, 3+√2 rather than 4.414). I've Googled for methods and searched Wikipedia, but most were imprecise, many were for polynomials of smaller degree, and the rest were beyond my mathematic...

Re: Many-point ellipses

Mm, yeah, I didn't think of the fact that circles and ellipses will always have "centers" (that I just assumed would be at the origin).

What if we assume that all of the points are arranged in a regular polygon centered on the origin? Would that make it easier?

Many-point ellipses

If you have one point (P1), the locus of points such that the distance between any point in (on?) the locus and P1 is some constant value is a circle. We all like circles, because they have the nice simple formula x 2 + y 2 = r 2 . If you have two points (P1,P2), the locus of points such that the su...

If I had been Keo'd, I would have had to say 10/10/x eventually, where x > 0.

Even if I get Keo'd this time, I'll have to say 11/11/x, where x > 0, not my current stats, which are 11/11/0.

Re: The iambic pentameter thread

An iamb's made of two short syllables.
The first is weak (that is to say, unstressed).
The second's strong (that is to say, you stress it).
A line consists of five successive iambs.
(Another syllable can follow those,
though then the ending of the line is weak.)
