Re: I WAITED TILL 5 AM AND ITS HERE DIABLO 3

Y'know, I think I do actually prefer the redone environment. I'm not saying that Blizzard has no right to do anything it wants; heck, if it wanted to make it Diablo 3: War of the Teddy Bears, I wouldn't say Blizzard shouldn't have been allowed to. I'd buy it either way. I'd just like it more if they...

Re: Diablo2: LOD (playing again)

If you're not doing Hardcore, I suggest the Sorceress. She doesn't have much gear-dependency, and winds up being good for MF for just that reason. Necromancer might be good too, since he can make a gearless army, but I've never really been able to make a necro work right, so I'm not qualified to tal...

Maybe familiarity is breeding contempt, since I play WC3 a lot, but I'm pretty sure that D3's graphics are far superior to WC3's. The lightning coming off of the axes, the summoning of the first boss, and the second boss all look much better to me than anything I've seen in WC3.

Hey, when you're in danger, sometimes you really do need to cover your ass. Also, I realize that I've never actually seen any truly gargantuan creatures (like the Siegebreaker) in any 3-D computer games, ever. Is there some good reason for that that people can think of? Is it too processor intensive...

Standing on a sloped floor

So, people here play video games. I find that I have a problem, attempting to make a... "platformer," I guess? A 2-D game that is Mario-2-D, with gravity pulling down, rather than Zelda: Link to the Past, with no visible gravity. Anyway, I want to have sloped surfaces in my game. However, ...

I think that Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation described a video game's difficult curve as something like "a guy in a wheelchair rolling into a brick wall" or something. I feel that way about Indestructotank-AE. Levels 1 through 6 I can beat no problem, level 7 I start getting "low fuel&q...

Aside from making sure that you have the right IP address for the person you want to play with, I'm broke. At some point in the TCP/IP process, it does tell you what your IP address is, although when I go here it doesn't give me the same number. Try both, maybe?

Well, if Spore has X units of awesome, how much money went into it has no bearing on that. X units of awesome will be X units of awesome no matter whether Maxis poured five bucks or ten million dollars into Spore. Spending more money on it will probably make it better, but there can be no argument t...

It's... maybe not a game, but I did make a pretty good Life program (as in Conway) in Pygame. I think I agree with Emeritus; if the weight is holding still, it will be a catenary, but if it's falling, then the tension on the rope won't work normally and it will not be a catenary. The endpoints don't have to be level for the curve to be a catenary, though. Say you have two level endpoints wit...

(Maybe this should go in Logic Puzzles, but it's physics-heavy, so my first guess is that it goes here.) So, I have a rope with a weight at one end. The other end is affixed to a wall. The weight is above the point of attachment, and the rope is taut, as in this beautifully drawn diagram. http://spe...

Sonny and Synapsis are both good. Synapsis has some parts that are a little too hard, but it's really spectacular, especially eye-candy-wise. I don't think I've ever seen a free game before with such great (pre-rendered) 3-D graphics.
