Re: I never...

Close enough, I suppose; I once tried razor clams, the first one was OK but the second one made me sick. Does that count?

I've never B.A.S.E. jumped.

Hmm,

I still think the movement of the theories of 2BHG is asymptotic to afuro samurai.

Re: "Hats" discussion

I think you are all overcomplicating things.

If one hat makes you a "classhole", then two hats makes you a "2hat".

Simple, really.

On the other hand, this could just be an afro-samurai reference.

Re: So my school wants to put us into "Houses"

We had three houses: Drumragh, Camowen and Strule (Red, Yellow and Green badges respectively).

In my peer group we referred to them as Kurita, Davion and Liao.

Some great advice there!

Here's mine; Don't be afraid to 'sleep on it'. Sometimes we need to let things chug away in the background of our brain to arrive at an understanding. There are some solutions you just can't 'brute force'.

Re: "Things fall apart" Discussion

Been there, done that, got the emotional scars. Putting aside for the moment the obvious - that Randall has absolutely no duty or obligation to post any comic on any topic whatsoever - one of the things I like about XKCD is its juxtaposition of humour and pathos. There are days I come here and smile...

Actually, wouldn't Tree-G be more appropriate?

Although you could argue if it was 10-Base-Tree that they could be running a dot1q trunk.

I tend to be inventive with my invective, but more conventional with my curses. "Oh for crying out loud, my computer's running slower than a nonagerian having a jodrell in a vat of treacle." "That Citroen has all the speed and alacrity of a narcoleptic sloth with a temazepam habit.&qu...

Re: "Map of the Internet" Discussion

It was through slashdot that I found this comic a year ago, and by extension the rest of XKCD. The idea of using a Hilbert curve to represent the uni-dimensional IPv4 address space in two dimensions has an elegance that appeals to me in great measure. Along with the concept of using an ellipsoidal r...

Aquariums or aquaria? As you drive down from the North to the South (of the UK) and wibble on down past Manchester there's an exit sign on the motorway that reads "Sports stadia". I always feel a misplaced, somewhat disjointed sense of pride when I read that. In my job we have honeypots an...
