Is there an optimum strategy for this ????

I was in my local last night, playing along in the quiz .... hoping to win my share of the prize (free beer !!). Well, the last round consisted of 10 questions. It was very similar to the Million Pound Drop Game . A question is read out and you are given 4 possible answers. You are given 5 points to...

Nice one :)
That's where I fail, I don't (can't) do computer programming .... just logic and maths, which would never have solved this in a month of Sundays :P

I don't suppose you've attempted the other (harder) version that I posted a while ago ??

Play your cards right - simplified version

Okay, a while ago, I posted a question on the odds of winning a "play your cards" game If I remember correctly, the question wasn't really answered fully - too many permutations/combinations etc .... However, I now have a similar question with a very much simplified game. I've just spent X...

Find the values of A, B and C ............

ABBB/BBBC = ABB/BBC = AB/BC = A/C

Note: ABBB = 1000A + 111B and NOT A x B X B X B
BBBC = 1110B + C and NOT B X B X B X C
etc

A + B + C = 13, and A, B and C are all different from each other.

Find the values of A,B and C.

I don't think that this is quite right: Analysing whether or not to swap the 5th card can actually have a decent effect: What you're looking for is imbalances. Consider the following: 2,3,4,5,J From this setup, a 5 is a better card than a jack, so we have 24 cards that are better and 20 that are...
