Re: Perfect Moments In Music

Jimi Hendrix - "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" - right after the opening riffs, where it drops in to the main section (technical terms! Yeah, I know). Say what you will about Hendrix being overrated or not - I'd probably agree that he's not the greatest guitarist ever, but he was really da...

Welp. Who knows where I will pop up when I log in tonight. Re: What books would you like to see made into movies?

I really want to see the Niel Gaiman/Terry Prattchet book "Good Omens" be turned into a movie. I know that one was in the works with Terry Gilliam as the director, but the Gilliam curse has appeared to have affected this project. Some of the scenes, if pulled off correctly, would be bloody...

Re: What Bands have you Abandoned?

A bunch of punk-ish bands of my youth, which (going to sound a bit hipster here) have radically changed their sound and are now quite popular (read: sold out). The Offspring - The first album I ever bought with my own money was Ignition, everything after Americana? Pass. Green Day - second album I e...

Re: Minecraft

Very cool! That's sort of what I'm working on, except mine has an inner radius of about 90 blocks. I'd love to do it full-scale and make it a real city, but the ocean would have to be at least four times as deep... I'd totally be down for helping out on that, can't get into the server though, can I...

Way back in the topic, but I was working on the mini-crater island thing (on creative at home, I'm not white-listed yet), and I really don't think they scale will look right much bigger than what I have it as, it'd just not a deep enough drop. http://i.imgur.com/3fj6H.jpg http://i.imgur.com/onPop.jp...

Re: Bring your own beer - or the homebrewers resource thread

I really need to get back into brewing. I'm missing some equipment after a move to the bay area (turkey frier, carboys) and I truly miss having a bunch of lovely strong belgians laying around the house. I still do small mead batches in gallon cider jugs. I've also been negelecting the community over...

And sure, the police overreacted in a few cases; but how long do you suppose you'd keep your cool if people were throwing shit-bombs at you? How is anyone supposed to learn anything from that? It sounds more like indoctrination. Also, doesn't eating that much paper cause major indigestion? On the first point, I suspose that would be one of the factors causing me to dispise it so much. Second point, I ate the chocolate off the book, only...

Re: Books you had to read for school that you could not stan

Off the top of my head only one really stands out: the Grapes of Wrath . I feel that I must preface this by saying that growing up on the central coast of California, we are pretty much required to read all of Steinbeck's novels, usually within the same year. This caused a general burnt-out feeling ...

I'd put a definite "must try" for the Anchor Liberty Ale, which is pretty close to the historical west coast IPA style, and a damn tasty one at that.

I very much enjoy a good mild, which are almost never seen stateside (besides homebrewed examples), and especially rare ...

Proggy space rock blended with some post-rock riffage and song structure. The first track from The Weirding is on youtube, my post num...

A lot of effort was put into fast breeding in the beginning of the nuclear area, but safety concerns proved insurmountable, and as far as I know it has been considered a more or less dead technology since the 80s .
