Re: Science teachers

Is it possible that, as a general tendency, the bad teachers be the ones with a degree in education, while the good be the ones with an actual degree in science?

(Am I being needlessly tautological?)

Re: A Physics question about gravity

Now, coincidently, calculations show that this force would have the exact same speed as that of light. In other words, if the sun was to suddenly disappear, the gravitational grip on Earth and any light would vanish at the same time. This has me wondering, what about Dark Flow? Obviously either the...

I walked into a wall by following the patterns on the floor and doing math in my head.
I burned water in a pot intending to make coffee when I had an idea for a short story.

How do you do?

Re: Improving the American school system

Privatisation in high school sounds like a recursive argument: the law of offer & demand can't act without rational behavior, which requires education. if one school has poor teachers and uninterested administrators, the parents can move their kid (and the revenue that kid represents) to another...

Re: "Ouch" moments in school

In grade 10, I had this teacher of Natural Sciences (chem/phys) consistently rank me down on every formula for not putting a slash on my units when canceling them out in stoichiometry, even though there was a clear pattern that I was doing that. Minus 5% every time I did it (every equation). Ended u...

Re: Things you remember reading -Merged: Searching for a...

A shortstory I remember reading: It was about a country of thieves, where everyone would perform thievery unto each other. Friends were thieves, lawyers were thieves, and the State the biggest thief of all. Neighbours would go out at night, every night, and steal from their neighbour's house to the ...

My sociology teacher last year, on the importance of empirical proofs:

Re: "Every Damn Morning" Discussion

I, too, just registered to comment on this comic. I just wanted to say that I thought the layout to be rather charming and extremely cute. It made me all fuzzy and warm at the thought of when I used to have these types of dreams. Recently the only things I had left from my dreams were some strong im...
