Re: Alien Swarm

Oh, chivying along is vital, certainly. A balance needs to be struck, I just personally find fast people more annoying than slow ones as fast people tend to be showing off while slow people just aren't very good at the game.

Re: Alien Swarm

It'd be nice if accessories like flashlight and nightvision were an additional option, rather than an alternative to armour/grenades. There are a few levels where a flashlight would be useful, but never enough that it would replace some else. I use the flashlight for "showing off" cos it ...

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts (Random like the plague)

I ate a passionfruit from our garden once, only to find out later it could have been pretty cyanide-y. When I informed my parents to watch out for me collapsing, not being able to breath etc then they just laughed, which I suppose is a good example of laissez-faire parenting but not so great when yo...

Shock armour isn't passive. You have to press 1 once you are infected, and then the parasite is shocked off.

Re: Alien Swarm

Oh man, this game hits on a whole new level of intense when you play it solo. (Of course some missions are outright impossible, like any protect the tech...) well, on the first level I was doing it with two people, and my friend (the medic) died fairly early on (it was his first go). I dropped a se...

Fair enough, I kinda dismissed them as useless early on, perhaps I will have to give them another try. Yeah, I did mean the tesla armour when I said anti-parasite armour, it's a life saver.

Top level is 27; I would really consider changing those flares for either heavy armour/explosives in the first four levels and then anti-parasite armour for the last three missions.

Re: Alien Swarm

Incendiaries are pretty good as well, in that they seem to sit on the floor for a while until they get walked on. another good strategy is start shooting the door yourself when it's on low health, I think you might be able to get it to land on them.

ALSO patch is out to fix some videocards.

I recommend playing with some people you know. It makes it a lot better when you've got voice chat and witty banter, as well as screaming for medic help and the like, and people tend to stick together more as well.

Re: Alien Swarm

I've played through the campaign two and a half times as medic, the Personal Defence Weapon and the Medigun with maybe the anti-parasite armour or the heavy armour suit me well. Those parasites are really really powerful; I reckon they'll get nerfed at some point. Still, loving the game, really good.

Steam are releasing this for free in a few hours. It's a four-player co-op shooter, and looks really rather excellent, very atmospheric and with a nice range of weapons, especially considering it's free. Just thought you all ought to know.

Wait, asking random people to go for cocktails is immature and angsty? It's the cocktail part that you have a problem with, right, not asking random people if they want to go do something?
