Re: Final Project Freaking Out

I'm going to note that RPGs have staggering amounts of content, so I really hope you mean mini -RPG, or just choose the other option. Anyway, using XNA and having a month to program a tower defense game ... quite reasonable especially if your teammates can help out and it isn't expected to be massiv...

manthos, I don't really think you understand how video games are made, and "mega-hits" typically are so because of gameplay elements, not graphics. As much as I dislike some of them, the Modern Warfare games, World of Warcraft, Halo, Gears of War and The Sims have extremely polished and po...

Re: Games you have programmed

Well, I programmed another game for the experimental gameplay project, this time an RTS where you get 10 seconds to order stuff around with the game paused and then 10 seconds to watch it all play out. You might have figured out the theme was "10 seconds". As with all EGP games, it was mad...

Then the person fitting the tank is putting out less damage than if they were running a balanced fit. One person in a full tank setup with one person in a full gank setup doesn't make for 2.5x worth of mission running power, in fact, I wouldn't say it's better than 2x worth of mission running power...

Sure it can... first person has to tank, second person fits 5 damage mods and scares the NPCs into self destructing. Ideal ship is the vindicator or maybe fleet typhoon imo but anything with 1k+ dps will do.

Well, based on this argument I've changed my opinion somewhat. I realised I hadn't previously taken into account the owners wishes as being important, but clearly they are. Anyway, I think that if someone can't afford to pay for a game, pirating that game is not as bad as if they could, because they...

All the arguments I've seen in favour of piracy on this board seem to be relying either on a different brand of ethics than the one I use ("it's information, you can't claim ownership over it"... even though the developers spent $20M on making it?), or on an explanation of why you shouldn...

This band is pretty awesome.

Also, now: JT Bruce - False Awakening

This guy is also cool. By random chance (shuffle), both are instrumental rock/metal/post-metal or whatever you want to call it. JT Bruce's music also happens to be free.

I agree with that for games you've actually bought, sure. Using that as a reason to take it for free isn't really logically consistent. The "honour system" also works for some types of media but not others - games are often played once through, then put away. Music, on the other hand, is s...

There's only really one argument for piracy: If you simply can't afford to buy it and it doesn't require any resources to copy, keeping it from you serves no purpose. If you own the hardware to run a game, which costs hundreds of dollars, and a good enough connection to download the 10GB of data wh...
