Re: What is/was your college GPA?

3.2 or something, at the moment. I'm in a game design course and it often hasn't seemed like focusing on marks will really teach me to make better games, so I haven't necessarily done so. Add that to the fact that I'm not exactly awesome at the art side and that's part of why it's not higher. :)

Re: When did you first spend a big wad of discretionary inco

My desktop PC probably counts, it was around $2000 in total and I bought it 2 years ago. Since it's still in use, it seems like a worthwhile investment even if I did plan it for quite a while.

Re: EVE Online

Scorch has a 25% tracking penalty, conflag has a 50%. I can't look at the specs from work, but i'm about 80% sure it's a cap use penalty, not a tracking penalty on conflag. Since I checked the eve site before that post, as well as EFT, I'm fairly confident. :) It has both. In fact, long range tech ...

Scorch has a 25% tracking penalty, conflag has a 50%. In fact, all close range tech 2 ammo (for turrets) does which is the entire reason it's terrible in most circumstances. The cap use is still bearable on a shield tanked, MWD equipped harb. On the other hand while it is cheaper it appears the crys...

shield tank the harb Ow, my head... please don't do this. Ratting works well with max damage, speed, range and some sustained tank. Sounds like shield tanking fits to me. Dark Blood MF costs about as much as a hac, for each crystal. Seriously they take a few seconds to kill a raccoon, but should you actually pose a threat, clearly nothing will help you. It was rather amusing when the beast exploded "frozen extract" all over them, and the whole militia vomited all the way to their barracks (30+ z-levels up). The stairw...

My untested militia recently had an encounter with a forgotten beast. It was very short. The beast was chopped in half with the first blow. Of course, some leatherworker died when I accidentally let a troll in before a mason got around to blocking the hole in the wall. Oh well. The troll also lasted...

Re: You gotta get into Dwarf Fortress if you haven't already

from something I read, the only way to get military dwarves to train at the moment is schedule them with no jobs whatsoever and when they get a break instead of doing "No Job" they'll do an individual combat drill at a barracks. Seemed to work for me, anyway.

I don't really think jumping to 33% is necessary :/ maybe 50, making it have 2x normal health instead of 3x. Re: EVE Online

The trick with the MWD is a bit different - you click align, hit the MWD and turn it off after one cycle. Say if you have a 100m/s speed without mwd, you need to be going 75m/s to enter warp. While the MWD might bring that up to 200m/s with a 150m/s barrier for warp. So with the MWD on, you accelera...

As for neuts, damage isn't always the most important thing - if you're trying to take down something that is repping like all hell, neuts can have more effect than fighters. Also, sentries are paper thin, even with an additional 60% hp, that means that without a second engineer helping you repair/reload, your sentry will be extra vulnerable (and probably toast the first time you disengage since 3 seconds is a lot of time). Uh, the shield absorbs 66% of incoming damage....

I may change my plan, seeing tier 4 products jump in price directly in proportion to their proportion to production difficulty. Organic mortar applicators are some of the easier ones. Of course, I'm not sure it isn't just related to people building them out of seeded materials like robotics.
