Re: The Official Running thread!

Welp, I just SMASHED my 5 km target. Beat 26 minutes, even beat 25. 24:56.19. I is a happy goose. See if I can get that down to 24 by the end of the summer, maybe?

Re: The Official Running thread!

Anybody have any advice on how to work on improving the shorter runs, like the 400 and 800? For stuff like the 5 km, I've mostly just been trying to run a little bit farther and a little bit faster each time, but I'm not sure how to work on the shorter faster ones. My bests for the first three are ...

You might be a physics major if the glass is in a linear combination of full and empty states.

Re: The Official Running thread!

So I've just gotten back into the running thing and have a few targets that I'm working toward over the summer, which are as follows: 400m: 1:08 800m: 2:50 Mile: 6:00 5 km: 26:00 After doing a few of those, it looks like the 5 km target is going to be the most easily achievable for me, since the las...

I figure I'll throw some other advice in here that I didn't see already: Keep a journal of diet and/or exercise. This is what I've been doing, basically keeping a spreadsheet each for running workouts, lifting workouts, and fitness benchmarks that I'm trying to achieve over the summer. It's actually...

For Mechanics, YMMV, but I'm going to give a nod to Serway/Beichner's book, Physics for Scientists and Engineers, I used 5th Ed. in first year and peripherally afterwards, and also referred to it semi-religiously when I was tutoring first-years and high schoolers in physics.
