Curious patient people. I think also (though this probably applies to xkcd fans in general) it seems that the posters here are an unusual blend of creative and scientific people. There's clearly a lot of people with software development and data analysis skills, and also a lot of writers and artist...

Is that a turret from a *real* castle? And they've been building a sand replica at its base? Those jutting out bits look implausibly slender for a sandcastle. (long time reader first time etc etc... thoroughly enjoying this latest excursion into the outer reaches of mad genius in black and white pix...
