Re: 1190: "Time"

Aren't they basing the shoreline projections on the current shoreline, rather than recalculating it? It's a pretty close match, even with my GIMPy manip skills... http://forums.xkcd.com/download/file.php?id=38124&t=1 edited to say: current to *us* that is, i.e. based on old maps newshoreline.png

Re: 1190: "Time"

I think it's "how many people [something] are you?" Meaning more or less "how many of you (by the sea) are there?" That could be "numerous" as well coming down vertically.

Re: 1190: "Time"

I agree that it isn't deliberate on Cuegan's part (they've shown no signs of malice). I imagine it's something like... They don't like us because.... - we're smaller than them. - we're different (race, origin, language, religion, etc.). - our ancestors had a disagreement with their ancestors. Or, w...

Re: 1190: "Time"

They're collectors! That's new information. They must have been stockpiling for a while because the river wasn't reaching them at the shore when they built the castle, so that stuff couldn't have arrived recently. And presumably it must be a pretty big stockpile to have all that useful building mate...

Re: 1190: "Time"

I find it odd which fits the OTC that the translator person started out with a slang-type/not very common word. I would assume probably wrong that if you only know a little bit of a language, you would know the 1st grade text book words. I expected the long haired one to respond more like "a l...
