Re: Definition of Marriage

There was a curious instance, for example, where initial draft reforms for the UK Marriage Act allowed for brothers to marry brothers, and sisters to marry sisters, due to curious wording. Is that bad? Why shouldn't two brothers be allowed to marry? I'll bite; I feel they should, because as mention...

Re: Brendan Eich steps down as Mozilla CEO

Whether or not we consider him a homophobe has very little bearing on what kind of consequences we think he should suffer - those consequences are all about the homophobic actions he took (i.e. his donation). Again, you are assuming that supporting a procreation-oriented vision of marriage over one...

Re: Brendan Eich steps down as Mozilla CEO

So did Obama only pretend he was a homophone, or was he really being a homophobe? What's the difference? Yeah, this. Speculating about whether Obama was just faking homophobia as a political maneuver or was against marriage equality on principle seems kind of pointless, unless we're debating his el...

Re: Brendan Eich steps down as Mozilla CEO

So, apparently it was all good for Obama to openly speak out against gay marriage in 2008, while applying for the supreme executive position. It was? A lot of people criticized him for that, and a lot of people who weren't that critical just fell back on "the alternative is worse". And th...

Made a Priest copy deck. Not very efficient, but a lot of fun when I want some randomness. I do like that it doesn't cause you to deck yourself, since you're getting cards on top of your original 30.

Anyone else enjoy playing gimmick decks from time to time?

I agree that the degree of harm should inform the degree of action, but I don't think boycotts need a ton of justification, because they boil down to asking people to use a competitor's product instead - not exactly a destructive act.
