Re: The Darker Side of the News

Doesn't that assume the rapist would be at significant risk if the woman did call the cops? Well they'd get slapped with a drugs possession charge... which sadly is more likely to get them in trouble than a sexual assault / rape charge I guess. How would she prove that he's the one who spiked the d...

Re: The Darker Side of the News

If women can test their drinks discretely, then rapists won't know which women are testing their drinks. An overt test kit means select another target. A covert kit means any woman might notice her drink's been tampered with. Maybe she just leaves the bar. Maybe she calls the cops. Rapists would ha...

Re: Diablo III

I don't know if anybody here cares about lore, but if so I have a question: Is everything supposed to be angelic, demonic, or some combination? Or are there unrelated animals? Do any of those animals evolve to become sentient, or all sentient beings descended from angels and demons? Edit: Oh, I gues...

I think it's funny how in almost any other video game beating a challenging section is its own reward, but in Diablo it's considered better to eternally grind unchallenging content if that's the more efficient loot-generator.

I'm really surprised what's going on in Ferguson hasn't been mentioned here. Unarmed black teenager gets shot by police walking away with his hands up. That is one version of the story. The police maintain that he was going for the officers gun, not walking away. Hard to know either way which versi...

Re: Ukraine Crisis [New Title]

I dare say that, even MAD, in practice, is better modeled by a repetitive game in general. You can postulate a decision point where it abruptly becomes the final game in a repetitive match, but this is not actually at the point of the first missile launched, since one missile will not end the world...

Unless one party decided the threat of nuclear war was so unthinkable, the other party wouldn't use their nukes even if they were being invaded. Yeah, I meant even if they were convinced of that, there would still be the issue of overcoming NATO forces. Unless they thought that the threat of nuclea...

There are two old games I've been trying hard to remember. First: A very old game on the NES (possibly something older, but I think it had at least Super Mario Brothers quality graphics). I've been running a paladin deck pretty decently centered around windfury. The idea is to throw out an early windfury and give it a divine shield + life-saving secret.
