I wish rule 34 hadnt been evocted.

Granted. Rule 35 is invoked in its place, and you're back where you started, except your high school teachers have been added to your collection.

I wish I had the power to alter probability.

Re: My number is bigger!

http://blag.xkcd.com/2007/03/14/large-numbers/ Someone in the comments to that post had the interesting idea of instead of just finding a huge number, finding a huge number, taking the reprocrial, subtracting the result from 90, and taking the tan. The result would be much bigger. I expanded on that...

Re: Portal Paradox

For reference, I recommend that every watches this film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvgwR9ERCBo I'd like to advise everyone to never watch this movie ever. It will actually make you dumber. No comment on you specifically sckidus, but that movie is intensely crap. And I'd like to applaud you, je...

Re: Portal Paradox

I'm pretty sure that portals do not violate the universal "speed limit," because how does one really define distance in this case? To look at this another way, portals are folding the current dimension through the dimension above. Imagine for a moment that you are a Flatlander, and for sim...

Re: Wire Cutting Problem

In case anyone out there was curious,

Spoiler:
I just confirmed the 25% result experimentally, using brute-force in Flash. At least the axioms of mathematics stand to see another day.

Re: stepping through paper

Lock me in a large box with a flashlight, water, scissors, and a few pieces of paper. Wait about a day. As long as you do not open the box, I both have and have not stepped through the paper. :D

Re: Rickrolling incidents and YOU.

I was actually there for the Rickroll. I was at a friend's house overlooking Central Park West. About 20 minutes before the Rickroll, I saw him on the CN float outside the window. I didn't believe it until it was on NBC.

Re: "Egg Drop Failure" Discussion

My old camp used to do this. We had about an hour to construct the contraption, and we were limited enormously to just a paper or plastic bag, a few pieces of tape, a few straws, a plastic cup, some string, and scissors. We were designing a parachute system, and I was put in charge of the parachute....

For the latest on LHC-induced world endings (with a 99.85% chance of catching world-ends by other sources!), I present: Has The Large Hadron Collider Destroyed The World Yet? Guaranteed accurate or your money back. Only valid in the Sol system. Void where prohibited by physical law. No purchase nec...

Re: "Induced Current" Discussion

OK, so maths time: how strong are the deviations in the magnetic field caused by the solar wind, and how long would a piece of wire have to be to get a significant induced voltage from this? The first part shouldn't be very hard. Heck, you could probably measure it from pictures. Without solar wind...
