Re: Ice and Fire?

I finally got my hand on ADoD from the library and flipped through it in a week. And, man, the book is thick and the pace is slow. I still admire GRRM's writing, his description of everything to the finest details, but the slow progress and lack of dramatic twists in the story makes it a harder read...

Re: Diablo III

I got bored of farming Inferno Act 1 with WD and started a Barb just over a week ago. Now the Barb is level 54 and somewhat struggling in act 2 Hell. Playing a melee character is a totally different experience. WD is rarely bothered by plague, molten, or fire chain. But the Barb really has a hard ti...

Re: Actual (Association) Football Talk.

I think it is in the best interest of both RVP and Arsenal to part ways. RVP miraculously stayed injury-free and had his best season. But given his history, he is more likely than not to get injured again at some point this coming season. The chance of repeating the phenomenal form is also quite low...

Re: Actual (Association) Football Talk.

Sometimes I really hate the narratives made up by the commentators. If Bruno Alves' shot was half an inch lower, they would have made a story on how Bruno Alves was full of confidence despite forgetting the order earlier. Taking your shot high with power is sign of self-belief, etc etc. And if Ronal...

Re: Diablo III

I finally beat the Butcher, after spending a small fortune in the AH to get a higher DPS weapon. In the process I also ditched Locust Swarm (Searing). It is a fine skill for kiting, but the damage is somewhat disappointing. I settled for Rain of Toads as my AOE attack. The poison damage appears to s...

Re: Actual (Association) Football Talk.

Germany is just scarily good. The rotation of forwards shows the depth on the bench, which only the Spanish team can hope to match. The passing and movements are excellent yet again. Even when they lost the lead, there were no signs of panic. They just promptly shift up a gear and pull a goal back s...

Germany drops Lukas Podolski, Mario Gomez, and Thomas Muller from starting line up. That's 3 changes in the front 4, with only Mesut Ozil keeping his place. Re: Diablo III

I am hearing a lot of whining from monks on how the IAS nerfs make spirit generation way too slow. My WD is still doing fine in Inferno Act 1, but I don't have much IAS to begin with. The repair bill looks really scary though. I ran through Jondar to death of Cain, mostly kiting, no death, and spent...

Re: Actual (Association) Football Talk.

So England is doing a Greece 2004. They defend all day, hit on counter, and threaten with set pieces. It is a sensible tactic given the limited talent in the current English squad. But as a neutral I sincerely hope that they lose to the Italians 10-0 with a Balotelli hat trick. And France...they hav...

Spain glaringly lacked penetration when they played that strikerless formation with Fabregas as the "striker". It should not be a surprise that he is the one benched to bring a real striker on.

Re: Actual (Association) Football Talk.

Italy play like Juventus and get the Juventus-like results. They are hard to beat but also get plenty of draws. Netherlands could not even press properly in midfield for much of the second half. Germany just kept the ball and ran the clock down expertly.

The double sub effectively conceded the ball to the Germans. VDV and Huntelaar did absolutely nothing.

Van Der Vaart is terrible in a deep MF role. In a more advanced role he occupies the same space as Sneijder. Throwing him on will probably do more harm than good. Re: Diablo III

It depends on your play style too. I have a darts/locust swarm kiting build that involves a lot of running around. So unless the mobs are extraordinarily fast, I don't have more than 2 enemies near me most of the time. So Hex effectively cuts damage by half and gives me the extra distance to kite. I...

Re: Diablo III

The only Spirit Barrage skill that I find a use for is Phantasm. The stackable AOE damage, combined with other CC spells, can decimate a crowd at very good speed. But the spell is so situational. It is poor against fast enemies and tricky to use in open field. I stopped using it after Hell act 1. I ...

I think faranim is saying that DPS is all that matters for DoT skill damage. The damage per tick is based on your DPS, not raw weapon damage. So in your example the dagger and the mace will do the same damage over 12 seconds, but the dagger gives you faster animation.

I am somewhat surprised by Numbing Dart being the most used rune for WD. Spirit Walk's Jaunt and Honored Guest runes are so much more important compared to a single-target slow attack.
