Re: FTL-com without breaking *too* many laws of physics

You could always just do what EVE Online did, and take place in a universe where accelerating to the speed of light does not increase your mass, thus creating no restriction whatsoever on rate of travel.

Re: "age / 2 + 7" formula is flawed

I don't have a problem with a 50 year old dating a 32 year old. But then i also don't have a problem with a 50 year old dating a 20 year old, so maybe my view is just skewed in general. :-/

Re: Students Kicked Off Campus for Wearing American Flag Tee

I was told once through boy scouts the don't wear the flag as apparel means quite literally do not turn a flag into a shirt/dress. It can be read either way, although yours is the way it was explained to me too. Either way it's a severely douchey thing to do, rather like going to a concert and wear...

Re: FTL-com without breaking *too* many laws of physics

So let's say hypothetically there's this person, who isn't me, who has not yet taken college-level physics and has no gorram idea how FTL communication would break causality. What would you tell this hypothetical person who, and i can't emphasize this enough, isn't me?

Re: The perfect world- can a democratic and fair world exist

My ideal: Overarching worldwide federation. The federation owns the world's only active military and controls any large-scale weapons such as atomics. The federation also establishes basic human rights (free expression/self defense/abortions/whatever) and protects those for all citizens. Beyond that...

This is exactly what i was looking for. I actually tried that, but it didn't occur to me to use the constant that way. Thanks much!

I think i broke calculus

So i had nothing to do at work and a whiteboard, so i decided to do some calculus. I'm not a great mathematician, and figure i can get better if i practice. I was dicking around with horizontal asymptotes, specifically the equation 10x/(x+1) which is asymptotic to y=10 and approaches it fairly quick...

Re: EVE Online

The risk is not lost on me, and i won't actually be attempting it with a real BPO until i've had a chance to practice it a few times. If it turns out to not be feasible i'll just scrap the whole idea and hope my corp decides to put up a research POS someday. The region in this case is Syndicate, whi...

Not outposts, no, but NPC stations you can as far as i know.

Re: EVE Online

I'm actually just getting into a CovOps, and am planning on using it to sneak BPOs into 0.0 research stations so i can get ME and PE without waiting a month. What's a good BPO to make money with this way?

Re: EVE Online

I don't even know what you could do on your trial to earn that kind of ISK. You can't train BCs or barges, so it's not from mining, you can't train industrials, so it's likely not from trade, and you probably can't get enough combat skills to get past L2 missions, so that wouldn't be it either. How ...

Re: I can't donate blood

The way it reads on the ARC pamphlets is "If you are a male who has had sexual contact with another male since 197-something..."

So it's not about being gay per se so much as it is about being a dude who has banged a dude. Which is why it's okay for lesbians.

Re: Strangers telling women to "smile"

Is it weird that i'm a dude and people have told me to smile? And not isolated, it's happened a few times.

Maybe i've just gotten my gender wrong this whole time? We're the ones with the dangly bits, right?

I picked up Warband. Are there any good mods out for it yet? It's great, but little things like looting not working the way it did in Native Expansion are beyond frustrating right now.

Re: I can't donate blood

Plus there is a non-zero cost to testing, and when the blood has a high enough risk of being infected they just decline all of it rather than take it knowing they'd have to throw so much of it out anyway.
