They're in sectors seven and eight even on easy, but they're not common. I imagine they happen more on Normal and Hard. Strictly speaking, you can beat the flagship with only boarders thanks to the fact that destroying a system causes one hull damage and the AI will continually repair said systems. ...

Re: 1338 changed my life! (veganism)

It's true that your recommended daily amount of protein is fairly low. I get about 155 grams, but that's because I took up weightlifting a few months ago. Livestrong.com wants me to get only 39 grams per day. I was hesitant about the idea of struggling to get under protein requirements as a vegan, b...

Re: FTL - ohcrapshieldsaredown!

I finally got the Crystal Cruiser last week by beating the game with each ship's A and B. It's a LOT easier than trying to get it through the quest. The quest basically never happens, there are too many factors that have to line up.

Bad math

I couldn't fine anything in this forum for math that is, well, bad. Probably the best known example is the 1=2 proof: http://00.edu-cdn.com/files/346301_346400/346347/algebra-sleuth-proof-that-1-2.jpg Most of us know the reason this is bullshit: the division by 0 in the transition from step 4 to 5. ...

That said, on the subject of transparency, I wouldn't mind a little more transparency on spell damage. I'd like to be able to bring up a menu that shows not just "does 170% of weapon damage" but also "with your current gear this is 150-180 damage at 1.1 attacks per second" so I ...

I get the thing about free range animals and whatnot, but I'm not sure why in-season produce is important. Out-of-season foods cannot be purchased locally; they have to be shipped in from far away. That's a problem, because things have to be picked earlier (lower overall nutrient profile) and tend ...

No one ever seems to understand how self defense is supposed to work, least of all its advocates. Let's break this down. Self defense is not a punishment. It is not justice, and no one deserves it. Rather self defense is about preventing injury to oneself or others. Whether or not a person deserves ...

Question: how does relativity work with angular velocity? Like, say I have a rod like such: -------------------A-----------------------------B With two points I care about, A and B with r_B >= 2*r_A. Let's say I attach rockets to A and accelerate it to a linear velocity of .5c. Since v = rw that wou...

I think you're overthinking it; for example, my Crusader has an ability called shield slam, that does ~300% weapon damage and ~300% shield block amount in damage. Coming from Path of Exile I was more frustrated by the lack of numberness. I still can't get over how stupid it is that they base all spell damage on your weapon damage. Once I figured out that expert difficulty existed the actual gameplay became fun, though, so at least there's that.

Weight lifting diet

I've taken up weightlifting. I was always a runner, and I know how to eat for running (70/15/15). When it comes to lifting I'm pretty sure my protein to carb ratio needs to change, but I'm not sure by how much. The company is called "Grinding Gear Games" for a reason. :P

That said, I haven't done any grinding yet. Things haven't really gotten terribly hard for my necro witch yet, which isn't all that surprising since summoner characters tend to not be that gear dependent.
