Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts (now with 20% more fungus!)

Anyway, the whole idea behind canberra was to build a capital city inland to prevent invasion during war. I thought the whole idea behind Canberra was that NSW didn't want the capital to be Melbourne, and Victoria didn't want it to be Sydney. I vaguely recall there being silly conditions on the loc...

I'm currently doing an industry cadetship with Note Printing Australia, as in where they print the bank notes (don't ask for any, you'd be about the 15th person who has). I stick bank notes into ovens and find out how long it takes them to fall apart (Aus has all plastic notes) and what components c...

My family (sans brother) call me Snicks mostly (which I quite like), sometimes Snickles. Comes from my Dad calling me Nickers as a baby and Mum said "You're not calling her that!" so it became Snickers and evolved from there. I get Nic and Nics mostly from my friends. (real name is Nicole ...

We're quite close to the physical limit of Moore's law, you can't keep getting smaller as eventually you're on atomic scale. I don't think it'll be the economy that breaks Moore's law but rather the physical barriers we're getting quite close to.

Edit: Yakk, you're not Anton by any chance?

Eating DNA? I don't see why not. It's in everything we eat already, though it would get destroyed with cooking. Lot of phosphrus in it though. You probably wouldn't want to eat a pile of pure DNA, but I think it would be pretty harmless, the body breaks down DNA all the time but it's better to be sa...

You can destroy tissue samples! Yay!

Provided the source is monochromatic you might be able to do some simple crystallography. Though 10 hours probably won't be enough, and you'll need lenses and such. Shoot them at a sample of something then wave a geiger counter over it?
