Re: Trump presidency

I find this conversation a bit naive about how lobbying and voting actually works. In this election in CO people had to vote yes or no on proposition 112. A yes vote means you can't drill or frack for oil or gas in CO within 2500 feet of residential areas, the current limitations are 500 feet. This ...

Double-posting because I'm watching S3 and I'm up to episode 13: I'm loving Purity/Julia Freeman. The actress is phenomenal, I feel like she shows great range, and I'm really curious about how her arc will play out. They're very clearly invoking the angry black woman trope, but that'...

I'm wondering if there's some kind of map of places that have shitty inconvenient voting? I know Oregon and I think Washington are all vote-by-mail, and I'm in California. Just from that sample, my gut instinct is to say it's shitty red states that have shitty inconvenient voting, but I'm curious t...

Generally, one would prefer to ask a catholic priest to officiate at the funeral of a noted catholic, not a protestant. There are circumstances where it's close enough, or joint ceremonies are better when many faiths are involved, but rule of thumb, it's more proper to get the same faith religious ...

Yesterday I made ricotta-blueberry-lemon waffles for breakfast that turned out great. This morning I made us kale-garlic omelettes with a tomato-onion sauce on top for brunch. I now have a blueberry pie in the oven. I didn't really use a recipe - I had some dough I made a while ago that I defrosted,...

You really can't separate that from context though. Not sitting next to someone because they're not white, or not vacating your seat for a visibly disabled person, can definitely have a moral value attributed to it. In Jewish ultra-orthodox neighborhoods where women are told to walk on a different s...

Indeed in the euro zone as well many people who are not criminals may carry notes of higher value than £50. That sounds strange. Also without seeing the data behind that, and just showing the map as is, makes it seem like the people on the map are the winners? I'm not sure how this is helpful for the election.

I don't get it. It certainly seems off. Here in Colorado, there's the democrat Jared Polis vs. the republican Walker Stapleton for governor. Pretty much all polls show Polis beating Stapleton, but only Stapleton appears on the map. Neither is the incumbent governor.
