Googladiator

Postby Matthias » Fri Sep 21, 2007 4:32 am UTC

The object of this game is to make one of your posts in this forum--in this thread or any other--into a number one google search using as few words as possible. That is to say, the search should contain as few words as possible, not necessarily the post.

Rules
1)If your post falls out of the number one spot--or if you submit one that isn't number one to begin with--then the number of spots below one is added to your search word total.
2)No random strings of letters (or numbers, Dr. McCleverville). Made-up words are okay, just so long as they make some degree of sense.

I'll start off with my inspiration for this idea...
Dire Dreadlocks. Two words! Hard to beat, but have fun anyway.

Mwuhahaha.

(Incidentally, I'm pretty sure this is an original game idea. Am I right?)

Googlewhacking

I wouldn't have thought of making it into a forum game, though. Cool beans.

Can a search contain quote marks? If if can this will be easy, so I suggest it can't.
There are two types of people in the world: 1) those that can extrapolate from incomplete data.

You present a point, Stalkie, but how's about this: quote marks are allowed, but if you use them you get a penalty. Say... double your spot number?

Ooh, and thanks for the introduction to Googlewhacking, pod-person. Not quite the same thing, but still a pretty cool concept. I'll probably be "whacking off" some this weekend.

Edit: zoroastrian valdoraptor made only one result. Although I guess now it will be two.

Parenthetical remarks (however relevant) are (usually) unnecessary.

I think it only counts as one word, but the number one result doesn't have you on it, so FAIL. :?

Also, Gnomes, we're going for posts, not signatures. Since I didn't specify, however, I'll say that you're in the lead until somebody does better (which at this point would apparently be anybody who's ever said "Keo-Hobo-Topia.")

Oh, and the first two results are me. does that get me anything special?

Matthias, I'm fine with it not counting as it is a sig and not a post. Though, now I need to get necroite to come up in a post enough that necroite actually wins this for me.....

I should get points for those. I should also try and get more people to put that bonus in their sigs...
