And a second one, because I got another good one:

That's kinda spooky accurate 0_0. The album makes me think of, like, soft jazzy piano music.

Rockefeller Chapel - "Practically Normal". A lot of weird, experimental music that is quite a shift from this group's earlier, poppier music.

What's that you say? Necromancy? Why yes, I did just make three of these fucking things!

aguarico canton.png

Artist: Aguarico Canton
Album: It Lasted Fortey-Three Years [sic]
Aguarico Canton are a half-Ecuadorian, half-Icelandic duo. Their trademark sound features a single acoustic guitar and a single piano combined with vocals that sound like Sigur Rós‎, drunk. Their latest album, It Lasted Fortey-Three Years, departs from this somewhat with the inclusion of limited electric guitar, electric keyboards, some drums, and some lyrics in what appear to be French and Mandarin.

something to believe in.png
something to believe in.png (186.15 KiB) Viewed 7815 times

Artist: Something to Believe in
Album: Midsection Unprotected
Something to Believe in started out as a hardcore ironic/satirical punk band, but in one of the oddest musical transformations in the industry, their new album Midsection Unprotected marks the end of their slow, many-album descent into mostly instrumental post-rock. Their vocalist now simply recites poetry over parts of their songs, or occasionally on entirely vocal tracks without instrumental backup. Many hardcore fans of the band maintain that they are still doing this ironically.

A4173 Road.png

Artist: A4173 Road
Album: What a Person Thinks
No-one knows what the enigmatic DJ known as 'A4173 Road' looks like; he has proven more reclusive and reluctant to show his face than even his more famous counterparts such as Daft Punk and Deadmau5 - at concerts, he doesn't even stand in front of his audience wearing a mask, but rather sits inside a large metal frame draped in black curtains. His musical repertoire has in past ranged from straight-up bass-heavy dubstep and dance mixes to relaxing ambient tunes. His new album, What a Person Thinks, pulls on all of his past work and more to give us 13 unique tracks drawn from all corners of the electronic music genre, often fused with disparate types of music to create completely novel sounds such as 'electro-blues', 'electro-orchestral', and a contribution to to the burgeoning electro-swing genre. As always, speculation is rife as to whether to vocals on any of the tracks can be attributed to A4173 Road himself, or if there is some other artist who helps him on that front. As always, A4173 Road completely ignores his fans and all questions put to him.

Album: Achaea Obvia.

Spoiler:
Um, nope, looking at it, the artist totally seems to be Achaea Obvia while their album is those whom we cannot resemble :(

Oh well.

Also this picture came with its own text, my guess is the disc does contain tracks named Service, While you wait, Orthopedic Work, Shoe Dyeing, Handbag and Zipper, Repair, Ladies Heels, and Restyled.

The band is huge, with 8 members. Each track is sung by a different member of the band, and all sing decently. Repair seems like the second part of their song Service, both songs are subpar, but work well together. For a joint version, their Service Repair Remix in their Single is recommended.

Handbag and Zipper is my favorite. Nobody sings, but each band member has great solos with their instruments, and then they play together, very unlike any other song from them.

Finally, I've got to say that the girl is the best singer, it's a shame she only sings Ladies Heels, I think the album would have been much better if they got rid of their peculiarities and just let her sing all the songs. Ladies Heels is a great catchy song (but hard to get out of one's head) and worth the album by itself, it has been confirmed that no Single of this song will be released, I think it's a shame, I loved all their remixes of Restyled, I wish they had given Ladies Heels the same treatment, but all people went crazy with Orthopedic Work, I honestly don't get it, Orthopedic Work is a terrible song and their worst one in my opinion.

PS - Am I the only one that misses good old Flickr interface? I couldn't even find a way to copy the image and had to resort to Print Screening (they don't even have a Right-Click Save As option.)

Oh, wow! Didn't notice that one before! It's truly epic! (literally, a 15 minutes song full of awesomeness). All they sing in this one and she does get to sing the best parts! The lyrics are very sad, though, but I have no problems with that! Odd how they managed to mix so many elements in one song without it sounding weird, loving the mambo salsa vibe it has (if I would change something, it'd be getting rid of the rap part. Really it's unnecessary, but I guess I'm just nitpicking now).

And this song makes Orthopedic Work make so much sense now! I now understand why people love it so much, so I take back my negative comments about it, but it's their fault for hiding Employee Entrance at the top-right of the disc's b-side tracks, it's easy to miss! (proof: the Wikipedia article doesn't list the song, will edit that in now).

Album: Merchant Marine Atlantic War Zone Medal

I had my doubts about this guy at first, country renditions of classical music? Come on! But I think these versions are very well done, specially the overhauled ones like Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, which you can actually get up and dance them now.

What I didn't like was that he got the William Tell Overture as a cameo in there. Once, it was cool and unexpected. Twice it was odd. But when you know ALL SONGS IN THE ALBUM are going to have a snippet of that song, it's just annoying. Must be his favorite piece or something. I'd rather have cameos from Rhapsody In Blue or Take Five (is that even a classic? What's that song doing in the album?!) which have great renditions, but William Tell just seems too random.

I mean, technically the name of the wikipedia article was "Something to Believe in (film)", but I took the liberty of deleting the film part. I think the quote was something like "Never raise your hand to your children. It leaves your midsection unprotected."

As for flickr, I think the idea is that you can't just download images is a form of DRM, to protect the photographers' IP. I guess they just assume printscreening is to much hassle for most, but that's what I do as well. I do feel kind of bad for taking their images and using them for my own purpose, though, which is why I linked back to the original pictures.

That's why players are meant to include that info on their posts.

Artist: Willie McClymont
Album: To Define Persons

todef.png

(Click for larger)

In a novel concept, this is like a mix of an Album with an Audio Book, as Willie just made all the songs' lyrics what his book of the same name (which wasn't selling much) was saying.

Despite it reaching number 1 on the USA, and number 1 in several Billboard Charts' genres, thanks to the versatile nature of the album and its catchy tunes, Willie McClymont retired because his original book's sales didn't raise at all, and specially because the Karaoke Instrumental version of the album, in where Willie's voice doesn't appear at all, was what sold the most.

The rules, from the OP:

Aleril wrote:
1 - Go to wikipedia. Hit "random".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to Random quotations:
http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to flickr and click on "explore the last seven days"
http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
Third picture, no matter what it is ((SFW of course)), will be your album cover.

4 - Use photoshop or similar to mix it all up. Host it and bring it here.

I got...

Really? I got the same quote I just did! At the end of this thread, while time traveling...

ABO releases yet another sleeper hit. It's some awesome shit, but it will put you to sleep. Haunted by Waters is the soundtrack to a funeral at sea. Murky and deep, the lyrics are a lead weight while the music is a poppy bubble machine that tries but just cannot bring this vehicle to the surface. These metaphors are lighter than the songs. But still, a must buy.

I was worried about my image being too large. But, damn, yours is large! That's a near-perfect sized desktop image for me.

That album concept might sell, actually. That's 99% joke, 1% serious.

Have you guys are already discussed what makes a good album cover? If we're playing this game, we have no choice on the image. (Is that right? Are we allowed to press refresh if we really don't like an image? What about cropping?) But we can choose font size, color, blending/camouflage.

I was thinking, but didn't really try hard on my own attempt, that in this day and age that the albums should work as thumbnails. I have one "album" (it's a CD) that has such small details that I know it was intended for LP ("records", vinyl, etc.). Does anyone else think that the art (especially the writing) should work at both thumbnail and full image sizes? (Should I be asking this elsewhere?)
