I believe asking a person may not be the most unbiased way to choose a number: it seems reasonable that a person would more likely choose 1, just to be a more positive person.

Eh, I could just as well say that it's biased because it seems more reasonable that a person would more likely choose 0 to be a neutral person. Neither of us really has any evidence to back that up.

In any case:

Well, 1 is what I would probably choose if I were asked. I think that because there are only two choices, 0 becomes the "negative" number rather than the "neutral" number.

Whatever, my argument still holds, just replace "neutral" with "negative".

I just think that it would be more likely that a person would want to appear positive than negative.

And yet neither of us has any proof. And so I can just say the converse of anything you say, whether I believe it or not, and it'll be just as valid.

True. It was an unfounded belief, just a thought. I still wouldn't recommend asking someone to randomly choose between 0 and 1, though.

Seeing as this is just a forum game, I see no harm in it. If you're trying for 100% true randomness for some great purpose that absolutely demands it, then maybe don't ask people. Else, it's about as random as anything else.

All right. So...how do you come up with your random numbers?

I don't. I always choose 0. Apparently earlier in the game some people only chose 1. So I'm trying to even it out.

Wow, I never even noticed that you always used 0. And are you sure that causing unrandomness in the other direction, at a later time, will counteract unrandomness on earlier pages?

Insofar as the average value will be closer to 0.5, yes. But I don't know much about the other things that were calculated and I may well be throwing those off. In any case, it's still just a forum game. Everything's made up and the points don't matter.

Well, if you choose the number instead of randomly obtaining it, then you are choosing the mathmatical reasoning of what randomness should be over the semantics of the word (I suppose; I as well know nothing about those other calculations gmalivuk made). And your saying "the points don't matter" made me think of Whose Line Is It Anyway?...

You seem to be picking 0 every time (based on what I can see without much effort).

That reminded me of this:

Maybe if we get to 20 pages. Gmalivuk did the first 10, I suppose maybe he'll do it agian when we get another 10. Or not.
