No.

We say primary school (years 1-6) -> secondary school (years 7-11) -> sixth form here. American "high school" covers the second half of secondary school and all of sixth form from my point of view. I assumed it was the same across all of England and Wales.

Huh, where I grew up (in the South), the system was primary school (reception to year 4) -> middle school (year 5 to year 8) -> high school (year 9 up to and usually including sixth form).

This syatem changed in about 2011 – middle schools were abolished – and it's now primary school (reception to year 6) -> high school (year 7 up to and usually including sixth form).

Didn't know the system varied so much across the country!

Here it's the same as what you've got now, although high school and sixth form (normally called college, somewhat confusingly) are normally separate 'round here. There's also preschool, but I don't know how many kids go to that.

Normally no, although yes if I don't close my laptop lid for whatever reason. (assuming the 30ish lights in my digital clock count as one.)

You have a favourite letter.

I think preschools are increasingly popular nowadays; most children probably go to some sort of preschool.

Anyway, in the county I came from, there is one separate sixth form (known as a college), but generally sixth forms are a part of high school.
