I have no problems, as I'd be catching the same trains as you. Need to get feedback from people coming up from say, Wollongong or possibly Canberra to see if it's making it a bit too far to bother. It's nearly an extra half hour on a train from the city, I believe.

Given that I'll be staying in Epping ... yeah, Hornsby isn't too bad :D

Hmm, that'd be the day before the start of uni... If the girlfriend agrees to let me go (or better yet wants to come with me) then I may actually make it, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
I'm not lazy, I'm just getting in early for Christmas is all...

And since I won't be taking Monday off after all, I'll need to catch a coach back to Canberra some time in the evening. That means getting to Central (thankfully not too hard from Hornsby) 20 min before whatever coach I decide to book.

There are a lot of parks and ovals and things around Hornsby station; can anyone recommend one that might be good for picnic + activites?

In keeping with tradition, I am thinking of procuring cake...

Meowgan and I are thinking that maybe a sponge cake would be a good thing to try this time.

Undecided. Themata suggested Hornsby because it's close to them (I assume) but also said they would be unallowed to attend anyway. Something not far from Central is probably a better idea, but no-one has had a concrete suggestion as far as I recall.

Well, that really depends on what stuff wants to be done... for having a picnic style lunch, the other good option (to hyde park) is probably around circular quay (botanic gardens much). Unless someone knows a decent place around the city it's not expensive to eat at?

Other than something not-too-special, like Pepper Lunch, not really.

I still haven't booked a coach back to Canberra, but would like to do so tonight. I think I'll go for the 6pm coach, which means I need to be down at Central by about 5.40pm, but there are a couple of other things I want to get done in the city that day if I can, so I would either have to get in earlier or leave you guys a bit early.

Does 11am at the Queen Vic statue sound ok to people?

Yeah, that's full of nice places. The statues of Queen V and her talking dog are cool, unless Central Station would be a better stop - I think we all pretty much have to pass through it anyway.

Central doesn't really have anywhere nice nearby for picnicky times.

I reckon circular quay would be okay. Except I'm not sure where we'd get stuff to eat around there.

We can do our usual thing with the Woolworths across the street from Town Hall. As much as I hate it and its multi-storeyness and its very narrow escalators, it has served us well in the past.

I don't know if I'll be there or not but I probably will be. Depends on work.

OK, but if we're going to do that again, we should coordinate a clearer definition of "value" first...

Phlip, this is very true. Also I cannot believe they do not sell bread rolls together in bags. I will not believe it. They must be there and we have just never found them. Buying them piecemeal definitely is not value. I am sure that we, as a whole shopping team, can appreciate that.

Anyway! I am working today and not tomorrow so it is very likely I will be there. But I don't want to stay out too late because I have to get up at 5:30 THE NEXT BLOODY MORNING TO GO TO BLOODY UNIVERSITY STUPID BLOODY 9AM CLASSES IN NORTH RYDE THREE DAYS A WEEK AND BLOODY M2 TRAFFIC I HATE YOU. This also means that an 11am start is okay for me, since I clearly need practice being awake before 9am.

Geek pheromones.

It's usually not hard to tell, especially if you have met one or two people (or even just seen a photo or two.) A group of people standing around waiting for other people was a certain look to them, I reckon.

I'll be wearing an xkcd shirt, too. Likely my Sudo one. I think I put the compiling one in the wash today(yeah, I hang it out just before it started raining heavily. go me!). Thus I will hopefully be the 6'2" guy with a beard and xkcd shirt showing up surrounded by chicks (if i work out with hermaj and meowgan to get on the same train, seeing as we are all going to be on that line).

Hmm. A few months is probably long enough for me to develop a cologne with an obscene price-tag.

Guys (and dolls,) my train gets into Central at ten past eleven (assuming I don't miss it 'cause I'm too hungover...) so don't wait around for me. There is no way you will be out of the supermarket before I get there, anyway.

I'll pick up a bag of bread rolls from the cheap bakery at Liverpool. I'll get a half dozen and if we need more for some reason we can get them there. Also custard buns because they're delicious and I'll eat them all.

Also, I'll be wearing my silly walk shirt with a CSE Revue hoodie over the top.

Me and Erasmus will catch the Berowra via City train from Parramatta that gets to Town Hall at 11:01. It gets to Granville at 10:30am. So long as I manage to wake up or coordinate the rest of my public transport. Also, the back carriage. The inferior end of the train. Yes I am typing this out so I remember.

And I have to be at UNSW before 5pm.

I don't know which knitting to bring.

My train will be coming all the way from Newcastle. I'll have more than enough time to walk the length of the train looking for a guy with a bike*.

I will attempt to be on the same train as you, Meowgan and Erasmus! I get on first, so I'll sit in the back carriage and if it is the same train you all are on then you'll see me. I sit on the bottom usually and I'll probably be in a black cardigan and jeans because that is what I always wear everywhere. If I am not on that train, I probably slept in or something.
