nerdy pet peeve: people who get pissy about you knowing a little more info about a relevant subject at the time.

Subject A: Oh my Gawsh, tanks are so cool

subject B: I know right? They actually have a 1500 HP Turbine engine in them! how cool is that?

Subject A: Oh my gawsh, stop being a f*cking nerd.

I keep quiet 99.9 percent of the time, so im not sure why one little quip now and then is so harmful.

I really dislike that too; it's up there when you have a disagreement with someone, and so you go do some research to see who was right and they get angry because of that. Surely knowing the right answer is more important than 'being right'?

I think I understand your pet peeve.
It's a good one.

We have a wealth of knowledge available to us via the Internet.
Some JackAss that prides himself in 'Making It' without an education says, "Nothing on the internet is True."
His friend counters with, "It is all True." They are both wrong.

And; There is your guy.
Mr. "Take my word on it."
He's wrong, too,
Life is, just, an exchange of electrons; It is up to us to give it meaning.

We are all in The Gutter.
Some of us see The Gutter.
Some of us see The Stars.
by mr. Oscar Wilde.

Those that want to Know; Know.
Those that do not Know; Don't tell them.
They do terrible things to people that Tell Them.

Here's a peeve of mine which goes somewhat in the opposite direction of Tomlidich's: when someone asks a question, and the respondents assume maximal ignorance on the part of the asker, going to great lengths to explain things related to the question – even when it's quite likely that the asker already knows these things – while ignoring the actual business of providing a meaningful answer. They're not doing this to be helpful, they're doing it to show off that they have all the right knowledge and oppose all the right misconceptions.
Exit the vampires' castle.
