It's... cooperative beach squash, or something like that. It's a great workout/excuse to meet someone at the beach. I really never knew people called it Matkot before looking for it at wikipedia. I guess Brazilians and Israelis have their own version of the soccer/football thing going on.

Hi,

I have just discovered your forum, which is strange, since I've been reading xkcd for a while now. I guess I should pay more attention to the fluff surrounding the comic. Then again, nah. :)

No! I only ever played Final Fantasy VII (the best Final Fantasy Image), and besides, we don't condone emulation, piracy, or ROMshots on these here boards, Professor Doogums!

When the app becomes £0.69 instead of the ridiculous £116.99 (I presume), I may consider pur-chasing it!

They're still trying to milk NES games for profit? What is this, Disney?
I did own the original though! My ROM is for backup purposes only, I can assure you. At least, of that game.

But when you make your way to 5, you need to embrace piracy if you want a non-shit English translation. Maybe go pay for the official copy so you feel good, but play the pirated one.

Hello, newest noob ReaverBait reporting for intro.

I'm a PA, in New Zealand, and I think my OCD co-workers are planning a revolution. I live in a small flat with (so far) one cat; I'm still a bit too young to be a crazy cat lady, much to my dismay. My pitiful wages are splurged on DVD boxsets (Doctor Who, NCIS, Sherlock, etc) and I'm going to be the first up against the wall when the revolution comes. I am also one of those people who have 47 tabs open at once; sometimes more, but I usually forget to count them before the browser has a fit and dies on me.

Hey fellow New Zealander. Nice pick of shows to spend money on. Don't worry about the many tabs open, I think a few of us do that.

Also be wary of the raptors hidden in the depths of the forums.

Hi hi everyone,

My name is Jill, I'm from Ireland, I'm 24 (25 this year and FREAKING.OUT about it!).

I am currently unemployed but interning unpaid in a radio station, slowly, slowly working up the courage to ask them to start paying me...

Interests are... Game of Thrones (books and TV Show), Star Wars, Audrey Hepburn, Snoopy, Music, Downton Abbey (!!!!) aaaaand xkcd of course. There are many more but just so you guys get the jist...

Funnily enough, as much as I love xkcd, I'm kinda useless at maths/science, my old roomie had to explain the maths/science comics to me over breakfast a lot. Please don't hate me! =P

Hi jillton, don't worry, contrary to rumors spread about this here forums we do actually NOT feed non-mathy/sciency people to the raptors.

Hi everyone,

My name is Lewis, I'm 18, and I live within the UK, my hobbies include programming, web development, and generally learning more around the technical support area. I've been around the website for a while, checking on the forums here and there but never actually signing up until finally in the run up to studying for my MCTS exam I decided enough was enough and it was about time I made myself known to you lovely people.

Hi, I'm Steve.

I've been a fan of XKCD for a while now, and I figured I should post in this forum because it seems to be full of like-minded people.
I'm a student from Las Vegas, and I'm a big computer science and mathematics nerd 8).
And if you're wondering, my favorite language is Java.

I'm certain I'll learn new things on this forum, though. It has a lot of interesting discussions.

Hello all, I'm a longtime lurker and fan of xkcd. This is my go-to site for seeing smart people discuss science or other various topics. I have yet to see a legitimately stupid post on this site (oh geez, I hope I'm not the first one...).

I am a bioengineering major at [guess where] and my hobbies include guitar, running, gaming, sports and maybe even a little fish keeping. :P

Thanks for listening.

Hi "Intro thread" welcomers!

I have not been able to stop reading XKCD forum daily for over a year. (Help!) The comic is always funny or at least intriguing (when it is not utterly brilliant), but the forums are what keep me coming back. Traditionally I have never joined in on the fun anywhere on the internet. And here I find that if I just keep reading further, someone eventually makes my point for me. But I think it is time I found my own voice.

So, let's see, who am I? Well, from my username you can probably tell that I like XTC (the band, not the drug, though truth be told I've never tried the latter...) and that Camus is my favorite philosopher. My first post was when I tried to join an XKCD Fantasy Football league. Speaking of which I'm celebrating the NE Patriots big win today to get back to the Superbowl for a rematch against the NY Giants. Plus I just posted last night in the Music section where I listed my Top Ten bands. One poster there made a comment that one would be hard-pressed to find more than five people on these boards over thirty, which gave me slight pause considering I just turned fifty. So if any of you four other old farts want someone who can relate, maybe there is room for my rocking chair next to yours?

Thanks Charlie, "I can tell that we are gonna be friends...." Sorry that was creepy, but I'm kinda being serious. Because I have been reading "Are you ready for some football?" and the day before your welcoming reply I had already checked out your 2011 music recomendations, so maybe it is natural I feel this way? By the way, thanks for cluing me in on Tom Wait's Bad as Me and Belong's The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. I already liked Decemberists and Wild Flag... but why no mention of Mumford & Sons or Frank Turner? Also, for years the The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight lyric that I heard was "Don't even try to wake me up." So, check out my Top "Ten" (where I may have cheated on the rules a little), and feel free to laud and/or mock if you must.

I'm oops, I think this is my third account, because I forgot the details of the first one, accidentally clicked the "I am under 13" button trying to make another, so "oops" seemed like a good moniker. I'm a CS student trying to math way over his head. When I'm not doing that I can be found going on late night trips to taco bueno(a slightly cheaper taco bell), being kicked out of buffet places and playing D&D.

Hi ya'll

I'm Saint, I work in a toystore.

I've lived all over the U.S. and live with an astrophysicist and an opera singer.

I'm starting a tabletop Scion game by White Wolf. I play a lot of tabletop, mostly White Wolf and the folks who make L5R, and some Deadlands when my group can stop arguing over it long enough to get back to what they're doing.

Not really sure what else to say, except hi there!
