<First grade intro>
Hi, I'm Koen, I'm from Belgium (wedged between France and Germany FYI).
I'm 20yrs old (at time of writing) Bachelor in Physics 2nd year (doubled) with a penchant for math and computer science (somehow sound a bit wrong).
I have ADD and a bit of dyslexia (my parents seem to be very good at combining all their genetic deficiencies to on huge mongrel which is me).(I also have a bit of an inferiority complex as you can see). This would typify me best along with some other comics.
I like metal. (both chemical and artistic).
I like having big arguments with myself over topics like religion, communism etc. which I have no hope of ever figuring out.
Oh, and I like xkcd very much since it was the first time I found there were other people a crazy as me.
That about does it. Wanna leave somethings for the rest of the forum.
</First grade intro>
(returns to school bench)

PS: if any of my posts ever sound offensive or just wrong, I have to warn that this is likely not my intention, but I'm just über bad at writing (dyslexia) so that thing may often come out different from what I meant (took me about half an hour just to get this post right).

Hey, Hello, Aloha and such.
I'm Raeinar, pronounced kind of like the mountain with a similarly spelled name...but not quite. <.< I'm 19 or 21 depending on who you ask and what country I'm in.

I've been reading this comic for longer then I can recall which means I've either been reading it for sometime or I...what was I saying? I've tried a little bit of everything at some point. I own two guitars which I could play about 4 years ago and which haven't been touched since. I also played alto saxophone quite well way back in middle school. Again, I highly doubt I could make much of one now. When it comes to techie stuff I follow much of the same philosophy, with a firm grasp on syntax and a general ability to understand any code I read and yet little fluency in any particular language - I learn it as I need it.

I'm an Anthropology Major out here in Arizona via South Florida, hailing from New York and I'm planning on heading to Med School eventually. I also do Graphic Design and worked for a stint as Team Leader of Graphic and Web Design for a company in the area.

Also, when you aren't looking I can fly among other things. Obviously, seeing as how I have super powers I have an alter-ego like superman has Clark Kent but I thought he was too obvious with the whole suit and glasses thing so to hide my identity I wear contacts...no one will ever suspect! Incidentally my favorite superhero is Robinhood (yes, he is a superhero!).

That is all.

Hello there!

I'm tin, also known as Jessica. Or Jess. I thought i'd give these forums a go, seeing as it's been a while since i've done the forum thing and everyone seems friendly here. Also, intellectual internet socialising is fun! XKCD is rather nifty, even if I find that some of the heavy science based strips are wasted on my floaty, woaty artsy brain meats.

Currently i'm based in Cardiff, UK, but Birmingham is my hometown. I'm here on a placement at the BBC, working on Torchwood/Doctor Who related shenanigans. If you ever wonder who updates fictitious MySpazz profiles and creates the downloadable wallpapers, it's us web assistants/work experience monkeys. Suprisingly, this isn't my main love. This would be animation as i'm a recent animation graduate. Stop-motion turns me on.

Lessee...i'm pretty into my music, world cinema, British comedy, console gaming and impromptu adventures which involve a leapfrog somewhere along the way.

Nice to meet you!
i dare you to take me on...

My name is Josh, and one of my most prized possessions is a t-shirt my sister made for me with http://xkcd.com/356/ printed on it:

I'm 27 years old, live in Halifax, NS, and I'm doing a grad degree in medical physics (only 558 sleeps 'til I'm done!). So far I have never been Nerd-Sniped, but it could happen at any time, so when it does: I leave my guitar to my room mate Scott, my CD collection to my other room mate Scott, and my camera to my sister.

Besides school stuff, I'm a big music-lover, and I listen to a lot of Crowded House and Bruce Cockburn. I'm a musician myself, and have been singing/playing guitar for about 12 years now. I'm also into bouldering (indoor rock climbing) and cooking (my best dish is Chicken Parmesan... Oooo! haven't made that one in a while... I'm getting hungry).

How exactly will they differentiate between which Scott?

I personally suggest something along the lines of an epic death brawl involving assorted NERF products.

Hmmm.... I'd intended the CDs to go to Little Scott and the guitar to go to Big Scott, but I kinda like your idea better. I thus will that my copy of "Sergeant Pepper's" be set aside from the rest of the CDs, and "With a Little Help From My Friends" be played as the soundtrack while Scott and Scott beat the poop out of each other.

The Band-Aids are in the cupboard under the sink.

My name is Bjørn (how does places like this handle non-English letters? Is it visible?). Although I am Norwegian by birth, residence, citizenship and upbringing/socialization, I aim to become a cosmopolitan.

I am aged 22, and study Political Science. I also dabble into related social sciences for fun, inspiration and extra insight, and sometimes I might even enjoy looking at natural sciences (although maths don't seem to like me. Or the other way around.). I am also of the firm belief that social science is no less science than natural science :D

I like science very much, as you might have guessed, and I think the idea of science is one of the few identification bases that can maintain a real core/essence over prolonged time. I am a scientist by choice.

I've been an avid reader of XKCD since #275, although I prefer the ones with a more scientific content. I enjoy webcomics in general, but most of all the ones like Rice Boy and Gunnerkrigg Court.

Other stuff I do: I like writing, and have been doing that as long as I can remember. I also enjoy drawing, but have only done this for roughly one year, starting from scratch. There is nearly infinite pleasure in making stuff look good, and in getting perspective right, as well as adding details. I hope to get a webcomic of my own up and running someday.

hi, my name is frances, though i answer to a variety of derivations thereof, up to and including neko (a nickname from high school that stuck, but is too appropriate to discard). i'm a 25 year old disaffected employee and resident of the state of arizona (specifically the department of economic security, also known as the department of evil and spite). seeing as i tend to gravitate toward apparently gender neutral online usernames, the way i speak/type usually necessitates that i point out that i am, in fact, a girl.

i like wordplay, math, science, computers, the internet, webcomics, random mischief and out-of-left-field truisms about life, which leads me to believe that xkcd was tailor-made for me, even though it clearly wasn't. *grins* i also play runescape, though not nearly as much as i used to, and strangely enough i'm not ashamed of it. (go figure. ) in my spare time i make practical and/or fluffy things using yarn and crochet hooks.

Hello again all,
I say again because, to be clear, I am Raeinar, or rather Raeinar is me - we is me, is him, is I, is we are all together!

Let me quickly explain why I set up this name so you understand I'm not just randomly creating multiple accounts. I have been using the name "Raeinar" for everything for quite a long time now. In fact a very long time, and I have absolutely no reason to. I have no connection to the name what so ever. I was bored and had moved away from my home state and seeing as how my old name had "FL" in it I made up a new one like I'd make up names for an RPG and I'm entirely sick of it.

I choose Scooby because one of my closest friends has three constant nicknames for me, Scooby(Doo), Christopher Robin, or Robinhood. This time it actually means something to me.

Anyway, thank you for your time. Admins, do with Raeinar as you please.

To reiterated in case Raeinar does indeed get deleted:
Hey, Hello, Aloha and such.

For once, I would like someone to post and say "Hi, I'm ____ and I am a clinical retard."

It'd be so refreshing. But apparently bragging is a one-way deal.

Sorry. Look, I don't think of an IQ as something to brag about, any more than physical height. It's just another characteristic; one that indicates to an extent how a person thinks. Don't take it as an affront.

Postby squidhappens » Wed Mar 12, 2008 7:39 am UTC

Good Morning! ((It's not actually morning here; I just prefer to greet people that way. Saves me the trouble of finding a clock and making sure it is really morning.)) This is Squidhappens speaking, but please, call me Marty. My friends call me moon-unit, but they're all imaginary, so we don't have to listen to them. ((at least you don't, I don't really have a choice!))

((I like parentheses. A lot.))

Hmm...something about me...

Well, I'm a senior in high school. I'm too lazy to do homework, but I can pull enough high test scores to float just above the failing mark. ((Grades are super high on my list of priorities. Can't you tell?)) Despite my parents claims that I'm intelligent, I find that one who knows that not putting in the work will cause failure yet still doesn't do it cannot possibly be all that bright. I'm not particularly clever, just pretty damn good at bullshitting my way through conversations. ((I won a gold medal for that once, but that's another story all together. It's quite funny, though, so go ahead and ask me about it sometime!)) So, if I take a long time to reply to a post, it's because I'm frantically wiki-ing and google-ing in order to appear well-informed and educated. ^_^
((If you're wondering about the double parentheses, and you're probably not; it's because I think that a single paren looks lonely and a pair seems more...I dunno...they seem to offset my off-topic from the normal stuff more. I like it.))

Erm...I alternate between cynical and hateful, and psychosis-inducing cheerfulness on a fairly regular basis. It pretty much depends on the amount of sleep I've gotten. Which is most likely to be no more than 2 and a half hours per night. ((I'm trying to get less, but 2 and a half seems to be the cutoff for coherent functioning for me. The voices tell me I'm an insomniac, but really I just don't like to sleep. Hate it, in fact. Long story.)) So...just be prepared. *coughcough* A dear friend of mine introduced me to xkcd a while back and I've loved it (and her) ever since. It's one of the two sites I check religiously; this and bash.org. ((Sorta explains a lot about my personality...maybe more than I want you to know...eheh)) AP Calculus is probably my favorite class, although lunch is a close second! ((It helps that my calc teacher doesn't make me hand in any homework. It's one of the few classes I actually have decent grades in!)) I also adore my Japanese teacher and that class. I may be just a teeny bit obsessed with a certain Japanese rock band. *coughcoughdirengreycough* Despite my love for tiny, angry, screaming asian men, my taste in music extends in a variety of directions. Currently it's focused on orchestral compositions both classical and contemporary, and video game music, but that is liable to change as is any other aspect of my personality.

((Ahahaha. I just glanced at my watch. It really is morning. Technically.))
That's it. I really don't have any more to say. You all know too much already. I might just have to kill you because of that. Or eat some more Zebra Cakes. Yum...cake.
Mmmyep. You can stop reading now.
((Well, that was very long and entirely uninformative. >.>))

Hi, it's time for me to say hello. I'm part-geek, part-partygoer, large-part-procrastinator. I have been reading xkcd and the forums for over a year but I have only just got around to joining.

I like programming, science, martial arts, canoeing weekends with my friends, writing, drawing, thoughtful people, making music with computers, loud parties in remote quarries, chocolate cake, and my girlfriend (who isn't a geek but who does bake delicious chocolate cake). I dislike right-wing politics, people who chew open-mouthed, rain, cold, grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, claims made without evidence and loud arrogant people who just don't listen.

I also like curry. I'm currently writing a computer game, which has taken 18 months so far. It will be finished one day. It will.

I live in Cardiff, UK, and have done so for about 10 years. It's ok here; there are lots of parks, and I quite like parks. I'm halfway through a PhD in chemical physics/quantum chemistry/computational chemistry, even though I don't like chemistry. I have a masters degree in astrophysics and another in molecular modelling.

What else to say? Since I'm in my late twenties, if you don't know me by now, then you've probably missed the most exciting portion of my life already (though maybe I ought to do something about that), the good ol' days, when men were real men, women were real women, and small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri were real small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri (I have been to some strange parties).

Chat to you later.

Hi, I'm RoverDaddy, a 40-something gray-beard programmer from Massachusetts, USA.

RoverDaddy is my online name because I really am a dad, and because Rover sounds friendly, like a playful dog. Rover is also the name of the bouncy bubble-shaped killing machine from 'The Prisoner', so make of that what you will.
I use the name RoverDaddy all over the place, so if you google it, 95% of what you find will be me.

I like online comics, Sudoku, Wii games and other things listed in my profile. Right now I'm wasting way too much time playing Shaiya, a free MMORPG. Apparently I'm also cheap.

If I played D&D (I never did get into it), my alignment would be Chaotic Grouchy.

I occasionally floss, but not as much as my dentist would like.

If there's anything you'd like to know, go ahead and ask. Impolite personal questions will be handled according to Marquess of Queensberry rules for verbal sparring: make sure your second is available at all times.

Of course you could make the same argument for retarded people-- it's a facet of how they think, and in fact is quite helpful in understanding. Whereas if you're smart, that doesn't really tell me anything except that you know big words. My point was that no one mentions their stupidity. It's only the smart people who talk about their intelligence quotient. See?

I'm not trying to be antagonistic. I find it amusing. I try not to bring up my smarts unless I'm directly asked about test scores and all that, because otherwise it's just pompous and any excuse I give about people being able to understand me once they know how brilliant I am just comes off even more so.

My name is Miles. I joined the forum here because I have way to much free time and way too few ways to spend it. I'm a senior in high school, with only a couple more months to go. I just got accepted at UC Davis, and am waiting on letters to the other schools I applied to. I plan on going into college as a physics major, because I know about gravity AND electricity. That is quite a lot, isn't it? I think it is. Sometimes I worry that it isn't a lot, but then I think, no, that is ridiculous. That didn't really happen though, I lied. I'm sorry.

So yeah, I like physics, but chemistry is pretty cool too. Sometimes, they both go together.

Monterey is a pretty cool place, by the way. I don't live in Monterey, but I go to school there (boarding school is awesome). It is foggy a lot, and one time, Robert Louis Stevenson burned down a forest there! My school is named after him anyways though. Did you know RLS was a scientist? I didn't, until I read his account of being in Monterey. He wanted to know why the forests burned so much, and he thought, "It is probably the Spanish moss on all the trees that burns so well!". Then, to test his hypothesis, he lit some Spanish Moss on fire! His hypothesis was correct, but then some people started to yell at him, so he ran away.

That is how cool Monterey is, rich history and all. And I live there. Pretty crazy, huh.

I also never try too hard to fit into society. I fit in all right w/out trying, I guess (I don't try to NOT fit in either, I just do what I feel like at the time). Sometimes, I act strangely I guess, or say strange things. I don't really mind it at all anyways. My parents love me and I have friends, so it isn't bad or anything.

To be honest, the fact that you have a "high IQ" tells me very little about you. Thus making for a poor introduction. You may think it's indicative of how you think, but in reality...not really.

Well, im 15, almost legal in Australia, therefore making me female in Australia, as males arent legal till 18 =p.
Obviously, I live in Australia, the Sydney area, but not gonna say any more than that ^_~, we'll see if u guys can earn the rest XD. OK, in my avatar pic, im the brown one, lol, i hate saying my background, because people automatically look down on me when I do, so I'm AUSSIE, lol, but if u can figure out my bg, i'll give u brownie points for koolness.

Just a warning to everyone, i tend to not be very dedicated to Forums, but I want to give this one a try because i love XKCD, and half the jokes in there are a little too smart for me, maybe being here will smarten me up ^_^, School can only teach so much.

Well, thats basically the gist of it, hope i dont piss any of youse off, lol, although i think i just did by saying youse, sorri XD

Truth is, it's hard to tell. At a quick glance, I'd guess Philipino, but it's very blurry. I could also guess Samoan, but I'm not sure. That is if you're the one with glasses. So yea. Other than that... I'm quite at a loss... Welcome anyway! (as if I'm anyone important here)

Nobody here gives a crap where you're from, I can promise you that. Although the fact that you have to associate with people who would judge you by your background does suggest a few parts of Sydney where you might be located...

Hello XKCD, I'm here to fail the Turing test...

I'm a student in England, and have been reading XKCD for a few months now. The only place to combine Missy Elliot with cryptology.

My username is meant to be pronounced 'Jackson', an old nickname - I tried to teach myself Russian a few years ago, which has no 'J', and thought 'Dy' would be a good substitute. (But according to people who know things, I was wrong!)
