http://patreon.com I want to trickle out money to artists I like without having to buy T-shirts. This may be the way. Please, people with time, convince Randall to use patreon or something similar.

How does knowing how to send him bitcoins automate regular small donations to him?

Ah, you want it automated. That's the important bit - I thought you were just wanting to send him cash without having to buy something you'd (likely) never use. My mistake then.

...

Unless you set up some sort of script to automate the sending of bitcoins...

Frankly, he doesn't really need the money. If you want to give away money, there are people who are much more in need.

Interesting thought. I also came to see if I could find a Patreon link to send Randall some money on a reguarl basis, but would be fine with some recurring donation to a charity of his choice (Randall's Favourtie Charity).

It would give our family a nice feeling to see what collective impact being an xkcd supporter might have - if there was a way to track the xkcd inspired monthly contributions to RFC that would be cool.

http://xkcd.com/RFC/ gives a 404 error.
