That's odd. That's very odd.

I wonder what's preventing me from seeing http://my.opera.com but is allowing me to see the rest of Opera's website.

opera.com has a different IP address, so you are probably taking a bad route to my.opera.com.

I might like Opera, were it not for the licence. Firefox is good enough for me; the freedom far outweighs any benefits Opera might have in terms of functionality.

I'd use Chrome more if Chrome themes weren't merely color schemes.

I'm using chrome almost purely cos I got annoyed at how long firefox took to start up. However the adblock extension isn't as good on Chrome I find; adding specific images is a right kerfuffle.

Dammit, I got linked at TvTropes again. I wish someone created a kind of system that measures how much percentage of tropes you have viewed in TvTropes (aim for 100% completion :) ).

I must have some sort of psychological resistance, as I haven't spent more than 5 minutes browsing that site during any given sitting.

If TVTropes was more pleasing to the eye, I could see myself using it more, but normally, I'll just read one trope and that'll be it.

I'm starting to sober up. Need to make the choice between drink more, go to sleep, or drink strong tea and try and stay awake. The latter may be the way to go.

Two IP addresses that are extremely useful to remember:
8.8.8.8 and
8.8.4.4

My ISP's (three mobile broadband) DNS keeps dying. Google's servers, on the other hand...
73, de KE8BSL loc EN26.

I tried restarting my computers, unplugging my router, and then unplugging my cable modem, and none of those fixed the problem.

Code: Select all

$ cat /etc/resolv.conf.head
nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 8.8.4.4

Added them a few months ago because I, too, am a victim of an ISP with a sucky DNS. Didn't solve all of the problems, but looking back, I do believe I have had fewer "outages" since then. (I never really bothered to check if I could connect to sites by IP, so I usually don't know whether it's "just" a DNS problem or an actual outage - hence the scare quotes.)

DNS isn't going to help, as you are getting the right IP. Either my.opera.com has your IP blocked (if it was previously used by an attacker), or a hop between you and the server is down. In either of those cases, I think your best bet is to search for an anonymous proxy.

FT: I've realized why Firefox has been so strange about it's spell checking as of late. I didn't recognize words like "realize" and "recognize". Turns out, the spell checker was set on Australian English.
I edit my posts a lot and sometimes the words wrong order words appear in sentences get messed up.

Well African American music has had more of a shift towards vocals than instruments since then. Coltrane was a horrible rapper.

Yeah, I suck at communicating. Jazz was pretty much all about making exciting sounds with instruments, then R'B and Soul was more about singing, then rap was mostly about the flow and ingenuity. I don't like Mr. Wayne, but from my understanding he is skilled in the ways of Flow.

Be fair, I'm looking at trends in rap and hip-hop right now. I am predicting there will be a genre-stratifying schism finally separating styles that focus on fuckin' bitchez, and styles that focus on... music.
