I'm considering selling my weapons. I don't really need them anymore. But some part of me says that it is a bad idea to sell them.

I don't know how many weapons you have, but could you sell only some of them? You wouldn't be left weaponless but could still get some money.

I have four weapons. The reason for selling them is I just don't use them. What point is it to have something I do not use?

Yes, I think that is one of the points of having them. To have them when you happen to need them. Of course you gain some money and a little spare room, if you need either, but it sounds just like the umbrella thing. A day after you get rid of them, the queen of England will walk in and order you around while the 'Rooskies' finally mount their sneak attack...

She did that at my old school. We all had to have our lockers check first to make sure there were no weapons hidden there.

The M1 carbine would get me a decent sum, the .1911 would get me probably $700, the M4...actually I don't know that I can sell that legally. That'd put a kink in things.

Good news everyone!
The dog is back for a few hours now and the hypothermia seems to have... been.. i dunno, cured? Treated? She has a normal body temperature. Her breathing isn't great though, so I might have to take her to the vet. At least it wasn't wet/freezing outside. A mere 40F. She sure looks adorable wrapped in blankets, though.

and why don't you sell the ones you can sell, and keep the ones you can't sell?

I am glad she is back home, and hope she is okay. :) (And she is so cute! My dog was so adorable when we got her home from the vet after she'd been anaesthetised over the summer, we wrapped her up and she just stayed there. I think the cuteness helps the sad bit be not quite so bad.)

Hey you. Yeah, you, with the avatar. You like Tetris, right? Well there's a big tournament going on, and the finals are being streamed here at 4:00 PST (12:00 am UTC). Blink (arguably the best player in the US) and Hebo_MAI (arguably the best player in Japan) are in the finals.

wait there's tetris tournaments? isn't it all just randomly generated blocks? i can't imagine there's as much strategy/competition as, say, chess.

Well, yes, they're randomly generated, but you can see two generated possibilities at a time, and there are certainly types of architectures that you can be familiar with and use strategically.

It also requires quick thinking, reflexes, etc. I can definitely see it as a competitive thing you could do in a tournament or competition.

Also, poker hands are dealt randomly, and poker tournaments are quite common and well accepted.

In vs Tetris, clearing multiples at once sends garbage to the other player's field that rises up from the bottom. Then the first person to top out loses. It's kind of a complex game, since you have to balance between clearing garbage and sending lines to your opponent.

... Just watch the stream, I guess. But don't listen to the commentators, 'cause they don't know what they're talking about. =/

About the randomness: the Bag generator makes sure the pieces you get are evenly distributed, and both players get the same sequence of pieces and garbage holes.

alright, vs tetris makes sense. But I guess when I think tetris, I think single player, so that's why I was confused. Poker's random but it's against other people. Also these matches are like, 30 seconds long, tops. i have no idea what's going on.

That's a bit different, though right? As a primarily physical activity instead of a mental one. plus, this is versus tetris anyways.

Why are primarily physical competitions more valid than primarily mental ones? You yourself even gave chess as an example just a few posts up.

Well shit. Two kids at my school got arrested two days ago for an exchange over facebook about possibly committing mass homicide on campus. Today our headmaster came on the speakers and basically told us that Facebook was a public venue and not to post stupid shit, as even jokes (as their exchange apparently was) can get the law landing on your back.

My response to this is quite dependent of the actual conversation.

If it was something like
*Man, it's always too crowded at $foodplace.
-You know how to solve that, right? Kill All Humans!
possibly followed by ridiculous Bond-villain'esque ploys and Bender quotes, then it's quite ridiculous. Because that's a joke

If it was more serious, then it was deserved. Because that's not a joke.

A friend of mine's brother once got his laptop confiscated because he had posted in a 4chan thread about a possibly planned mass-homicide in a Belgian school.
