I would be very proud to have raised a four year old that is aware that gender constructs shouldn't mean anything and people should like what they like. I could only hope for a child that smart.

If I ever get to an xkcd meet thing, it'd be nice if people could identify me without a nametag or even knowing what I look like. I mean, sure, I've got a shaved head and friendly muttonchops, but what if there's another bald, oddly bearded fellow there?

It'd be nice to be more distinct.

So I'm thinking of buying a T-Shirt and maybe doing what I can to fade it from red to pink, since apparently it only comes in red. I figure that'd work.

Frequently perform the "hate myself and want to die" dance. Removes all ambiguity or, failing that, causes a Spectacle.

I tend to wear my most outlandish clothes when I go to meets (eg: my knee-length, leopard-print coat; see avatar). If you do not own a leopard-print coat however, I would, also, recommend a sailor fuku costume.

sexytalon will be the bald man with muttonchops wearing a sailor fuku costume with a "i hate myself and want to die" shirt, jumping up and down holding his hand as if it were a gun to his head, who everyone nearby is clearly trying to avoid.

the only question now is; do you actually want to be seen with this person

I think a good rule of thumb for flags is make sure it's something simple enough for a school child to draw.

I was very happy that my flag was just straight lines. I'm terrible at drawing.

Tell me about it. I got "CANADA" on DrawSomething the other day - ended up with a red clover leaf on a white background with a red bit on each side. It looked terrible. Got me 3 coins though! ;)

In United Nations day (whatever occasion that is) the school make us do flags and turn them into streamers. I wanted to get assigned to drawing the flag of Libya during United Nations day, since it was just a green flag. Well, now they changed it.

Seven lions actually, six of which are English; the other is Scottish. Also, Richard the Lionheart only ruled England out of the four countries in the UK so, whilst it would be ridiculous to say the lion wasn't a British symbol, it is (in particular when there are three of them as there are here) primarily an English one.

This being the London olympics though rather than the Edinburgh, Cardiff or Belfast olympics, I think a symbol of England is reasonable.

It's a staple in western medieval symbolism. All Scandinavian countries have lions in their coats of arms. But they were sort of quasi-mythological, seeing as how very few people in Western Europe actually got to see a lion. Hence the derp-fest that's the Finnish coat of arms.

To be fair, that was also due to the conventions of drawing at the time. Here's a sketch "drawn from life" by a 13th century fellow, though there is debate over whether he actually got to see a live one or was copying from other drawings: Derpage that includes a small "porcupine"

So I am sick, at home, with nothing to do. Normally at a time like this I would do homework, but I will never have homework again for the rest of my life. It's an odd feeling. I feel even more displaced than I thought I would after I graduated. Probably because I didn't anticipate getting sick. Time to ponder life...
