I always take off my earphones, both because I want to know if a podcast is leaking out of my headphones (which would be bad) and because I want the people standing right behind me to know that I can hear them and that they are annoying. You're not eavesdropping, they are invading your space.

Coincidentally, the best way to eavesdrop is to have earphones in your ears that aren't outputting any sound.

This can be a bit queasy when people are talking about their personal problems, or disputes with the employer.

If they're talking right behind you and don't expect you to hear, they're idiots then. I can generally hear things even when I have music playing through my headphones since I don't play it at ear-blasting volumes.

How is it possible to get a caffeine overdose because of one cup of coffee?

However, you have to be careful not to react to what they are saying. (I've had this problem on the train a few times, when I am pretending to be reading with headphones on and am actually just eavesdropping. I try to cover by pretending I'm reacting to something I've read, but I don't think it really works...but let's be honest, discussions on a train are fair game, it's barely even eavesdropping.)

Did you take some pain relievers like Excedrin? That stuff has a good bit of caffeine. Take a few of those and drink a strong cup of coffee?

By having 20 cups of coffee before it? The drop that overflows the bowl type scenario.

Is 21 cups enough to OD on coffee? From what I can find, the LD50 for caffeine is about 200 mg / kg, which apparently corresponds to c. 80 cups of coffee. That's a lot of coffee; I know that I'd just be regurgitating it long before I got to that time.

You can dissolve 170g of caffeine in a cup of water at 100ºC. It only takes about 14g to kill a person. You might have to use methanol to extract enough caffeine from the beans to begin with, though, and then evaporate it and add the extra caffeine to the water.
Is this how you have been making your coffee?

This is exactly what I mean. Overdose is propably a wrong term to use here. I use a french press to brew my coffee, so sometimes the coffee can be a bit strong.

Lethal dose and overdose is two different things. Coffee turns nasty long before it kills you.

Just got home from my grandparents' house in Utah. It's been a wonderful weekend. I met my uncle Steve and my aunt Julie and four of my cousins, all of whom I've never met because they lived in California while I was growing up in Iowa. We had a nice big Thanksgiving dinner and on Friday, we went to Bryce Canyon (if you haven't gone, you should) and Zion. On Saturday, we visited the Mountain Meadows Massacre Site about 30 miles north of Saint George, Utah.

They probably though Kokopelli was coming for their women. Truth be told, lil Kokopelli might of done wonders for beady eye syndrome. Folks from UT, don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about! Walk around some areas of UT, you will see.

It's a joke. Warren Jeffs, the guy in the picture, had a polygamist cult on the boarder of UT/AZ. Being from UT, I'm sure you heard something about him. He slept with all the women. Mentally tortured, FBI most wanted list... I believe that's in the general vicinity of GS vacation destination. All groups of people have similar traits. Some disperse over time, others not so much. Areas of Isolation have less dispersal and more defining characteristics. An example would be the difference in ethnic diversity between Sweden and New York City. It's the same with all life. Mormons, being one of the leading groups studying genealogy, would be able to tell you much more than I. I promise you got some back woods areas of UT where many people share traits. Indians/Kokopelli... It's a Hillbilly joke! (in no way is this joke related to the Hillbillies of Beverly).

Can anyone recommend a good piece of video editing software for someone who has never done video editing before? It doesn't need to do anything particularly complex... stitching clips together with fade effects, overlaying images with transparency, speeding up and slowing down segments, that kind of thing. Preferably with a built-in audio editor so I don't have to do the soundtrack separately and have to worry about synchronising it.

Cyberlink Powerdirector seems to get good reviews, but would that be a bit overwhelming for a noob like me?
