I really like last.fm, except for their horrifically loud ads. They need that 'ads are the same volume as the rest of the programming' thing.

I heard somewhere that there is now actually a law against that, at least in the US. you can report it to the FCC online, at least radio and TV ads. not sure about the internet. Might be worth looking into.

I actually have never heard ads in last.fm, not even when the service was available as a free version. Probably because there hasn't been enough audience here for ads to be profitable.

On the XBox app there are ads about every 3 or 4 songs, but they're largely for last.fm itself. Which is weird, because, you know, you're already using their service.

Grooveshark plays video ads with sound while you’re listening to songs, which would have made me quit Grooveshark if it weren’t for Adblock.

I presume it would be some American time zone, since that's where the Maya were. Also, some quick googling suggests they started their days at sunrise, not midnight. So we have until sunrise on the 21st, say CET. So, the end of the world is about this time, give or take an hour or two (depending on exactly where you measure the sunrise at).

Trying to have 2012 pages by the end of the year (we really should get 21 posts on the 2012th page, and then get a mod to lock it for a day :) )

As an aside: it's surprisingly hard to type http://whatever without muscle-memory automatically making it ...
