We don't have much in the way of terrorism here, unless you count spambots (which I'm tempted to). I suspect the NSA would be visiting xkcd mostly for the giggles.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if a significant number of employees at the NSA read xkcd. It's probably the right demographic for the comic, so at least a few of them likely look at the forums sometimes. I doubt they do so with work-related nefarious intentions, though.

NSA threatening the fora? Do we need to bring back the ball-gagged avatars in protest?

There was reasoning? I thought it was just like the trend for avatars with police hats a while back. Or was there actually a reason for that one too?

EDIT: Hmm... I think the police hats might've been a mafia subforum thing.

That had to have been the longest forum outage (Or at least in an unusable state) in possibly all the time I been here. I got scared...

It's really way too easy for a small group of people to take out larger websites and I thought it might have been some group with ill intent.

I think everyone's avatar (or just all the FF00BF BFF's, perhaps?) were changed to ballgags as part of Mod Madness one year. Some people took the ballgag and incorporated it into their normal avatar for a while.

Do you ever think about how boring the world is, without the internet?

Not one person without the internet. Everyone without the internet.
What would people do? Weird stuff like they did before there was an internet?

How dangerous would the world be, without internet? Scary?
Or; Would the world not miss a beat?

That is stranger than any Sci-Fiction I have ever read.
Because; It could happen! Like an astroid. Only no Pop.

Just a whimper. Like that beat poet said, "The world ends. Not in a Roar; But, with a whimper."

Children's birthday party? Bring out the santa costume.
Regular house party? Texas chainsaw massacre Halloween costume.
Leaving party for business partner? Steampunk robot outfit.

At the very least you'll get noticed. At worst you'll get weird looks every time you pass by those people for at least the next year.

Also, I'd give my silhouette a good 8.5 out of 10, I approve of it.

Assuming things go smoothly, I'll probably be watching it at work. If things don't go smoothly, that's why I'm at work, and people will yell at me about not being able to watch it.

I went and threw up in the bathroom this morning at school (i've got a stomach virus, i think.) and saw "look up" on the toilet paper dispenser. Looked up and found out that someone had written "gullible" in huge letters on the ceiling! i don't know how someone was able to reach, but it was pretty amusing, even for vandalism.

Oh me yarm the word wedding just reminded me of something so terrible that my brain repressed it.

This past weekend at my friend's wedding the sound guy didn't show up and since I just so happened to have my guitar the bride (in tears) begged me to entertain the guests with the sweet sweet sound of my stylings as they waited for the ceremony to start and then as I sat there in front of everyone I realized I didn't know how to play anything not one thing not even like a rap song or something and so i just kind of finger picked a c chord over and over and over again and oh god it was the worst thing ever.

(It wasn't quite that awful; I managed to eke out a decent rendition of pachabels canon when everyone started walking down the aisle, but... it was pretty damn bad)

And that's why you never bring a guitar to a wedding, not even if you are asked way in advance to play just 1 specific song during communion.

I only use Facebook for communication with other people for college projects. So I've begun to seriously associate the "new message" sound with stress and anxiety, because 90% of the time I hear it it means "why the hell haven't you finished part X yet?".

I'm reading papers on predictive policing for work (HEY FUTURE CYBERSTALKERS, THIS ONE IS A FREEBIE), and was quite surprised to see that the victimization rate for personal crime was by a fuckhuge margin dominated by single young male students.

I'm wondering why that is. Wouldn't women be physically weaker and better targets? Do drunken fights between males inflate the numbers?

It just seems so weird!
