Peh, post count means nothing. I'm old enough to remember when jokes were made about Narsil's Penis and there was no LSR subfora, and I have a bit over 400 posts.

In other words, LURK MOAR.

thing is, you joined after me and still you have about five times as many posts as me, although I'm pretty sure that has more to do with the fact that I only very recently managed to turn entirely from lurk mode. in fact, most of my posts so far were made sometime in the last few weeks. I think I should stop before I derail the thread.

I remember no LSR, but not when Narsil's penis was around.

Although I did ask him about his junk.

I'm an example for the opposite, as someone who has (I like to think) very well honed textual skills but turns into the aforementioned spitting troglodyte when I'm forced to communicate through my mouth-hole.

Interestingly, I think I'm funnier, more verbose and more charismatic in meatspace than on fora. Text takes away many of the things that make people like me - my big smile and friendly attitude, for example... which are strangely more apparent in chatrooms and IM conversations, though. I have no idea why fora take this element of my personality away.

Yeah, but like Sarr said, postcount is nothing.
@Sarr: I cant lurk, it is almost impossible; I must always talk and I must always fidget.
Now, before this turns into a derail, I'd like to say that this conversation has happened elsewhere before (just not with me specifically), so lets get over it.
I learned the basics about Narsil and his junk through lurking before joining, and inference.

It is because they eat souls. The more personality a poster seems to have, the deeper they are enmeshed. Lucky you. I seem to be about even between fora and meat space.

Turns out my Biology assignment was corrupted, which she neglected to tell me, because it was corrupted on my computer as well, meaning I had to do it all over again...

I printed a copy as well this time.

Did you post a thread about it? If it's MS Office, an Open and Repair.. usually solves the problem, or at the very least allow you to keep most of the data.

Ah, but you forget about RG: if its not fleeting/random/fungusy enough, then it will be deleted, so it may not be a true derail, but it will end up pointless as it shall be destroyed.

Eh, it's serious discussion on one topic, it'd probably be split, not deleted.

Ah, but as I had said, conversations almost exactly like this one have been done elsewhere; there is no need to repeat, and hence no need to split, just delete.
*Waits for deletion of the previous few posts, for one reason or another*

Pff. You think you suck at articulating? I literally almost blush when reading any of my old posts, especially my intro post. I was actually relieved when no-one commented on it, and it was buried beneath a bunch of other intros. My more recent posts are a little better, I think, but I still can't seem to really express things well.

Random thought:

People who don't know each other too well will start out a conversation addressing everyone in the group about the same amount of time. But often, by the end of the conversation, people start looking more exclusively at one or two people, addressing them. Because that person has somehow asserted themselves to be in charge or something like that, the one you want to talk to to get results. Sometimes, it'll even happen that everyone starts out addressing one person that they think of as being in charge, then switch to another person who turns out to be more the leader of the discussion/activity.

This has been happening to me pretty often lately.

The latest example was today, when we had a political discussion in my seminar class, and by the end of it, people had stopped looking at the (student) professor and started talking directly to me, even when they weren't responding to anything I'd said, if they were bringing up a new point of discussion.

It's kind of freaking me out a little. Because when you are the Person To Be Addressed, people expect you to know shit.

Also, I have not yet figured out how to take best advantage of these apparent powers.

FT: AHHHH Why are all ze hard drives dying at once!!

No seriously, 4 hdd dying in a month is just plain weird. Just running a data recovery program and it's only like a few % of each drive, but they aren't even accessible through normal means. I think I'm going to buy another few hdd's along with some ram. I brought my 1gb back at a price high point and now 4gb is 1/2 the price of what 1gb was... *sigh*

OH GOD CHANGING COLOURS EVERYWHERE!

Guys, there's going to be a bit of colour changing about now, if I'm any judge.

They've added "Moderators Emeritus", which was signified by yellow and was changed about 3 minutes later to dark blue, to show people who used to be mods but now aren't around any more or don't want to be mods. As such, a couple of people are missing from the "The Team" page, and stuff like that, just until they've finished messing around. It seems to be pretty much housekeeping because some mods are disappearing, namely Hammer, and people have to take their place.

So, um, yeah. That's me pretending to be more knowledgeable about the subject than I actually am.

Also the Z key of my keyboard just broke off. It is a weird style that does not reattach easily. This would be unacceptable if it were a more common letter, as it is, it is merely annoying. Luckily I can still press the small rubbery thing that is the actual button.
