Oh I thought they actually pronounced it "bananas"

I'll make it my mission, then, to sample them at every opportunity whilst in Britain and report back.

Damned word filters. I can't even write "clusterfuck" on some dutch forum.
Just because it contains "fuck" doesn't mean it's obscene or anything. :?

I once used the word "clusterstorm" in a work email. Part clusterfuck, part shitstorm, all SFW.

The definition is hardly very SFW/C.

As a kid, I thought it described someone who bugged you. A botherer, as it were. Made much more sense to me than the definition involving one's fiddly bits that turned out to be more widely accepted.

Mixing up (to) bug someone and to bugger them is otherwise a classic English-as-second-language mistake. Much to the amusement of the natives

Oh, sorry, The Hedgehog Can Never be Buggered at All

From the same source:
The song is actually a very interesting play on words; in British English (and, by extension, Australian English), "bugger" can be either a rather coarse slang term meaning "bother", or it can be a vulgarity referring to anal penetration for sexual purposes (that is, sodomy).

I don't know, as a brit, I've only ever heard bugger used to mean "penetrate anally". I suppose it could be used to mean bother but that'd be like "quit fucking me on this" and is just a standard dysphemism rather than a new sense.

For Americans, I think it's somewhat along the same lines as "fanny", which is a friendly term for a tush and nothing else.

"I can't be buggered"
"I can't be arsed"
"I can't be bothered"
Roughly in ascending order of politeness, I think.

Ah, I always thought "bugger off" was a slightly silly "go away (and bug/bother someone else)" or a polite "piss off" ...rather than being the same as "fuck off".

It's softer around here than in the UK, I think. It's still an insult, but it's closer to "get the hell out" than "fuck off". It does vary, though.

Yeah, "bugger off"/"sod off" are definitely perceived as softer than "fuck off" but the distinction between "bugger" and "fuck" is similar to "shit"/"crap" in the US I think where the two have the same meaning but one is "ruder".

Whoops, I gave myself away, didn't I. To be honest, I've never seen it being used any other way than to mean "profanity", much like the word "crap" is used.

Reading a book where someone says, "oh, bugger," sounds equivalent to, "oh, waffles." Even knowing what it means.

Sure I have but that's purely idiomatic and its meaning can't be worked out from its parts. Like I said, bugger/fuck form a similar pair to crap/shit and, as you'll note, fuck all is also a phrase.

My new, more powerful, PSU seems to work after all the hassle of trying to make a different set of connectors connect to everything that needs power. The BIOS said "CPU fan error" but the (almost new) CPU fan seems to be working fine. The power light on the tower case is now red, not blue.

Ugh. It was saying "CPU fan error" before, so I replaced the CPU fan and it worked beautifully for weeks then the PSU died, and now it's saying it again and the power light's changed colour.

I'm going to chime in with another dose of computer annoyance, because it's five am at the moment: Windows 10. For starters, if it (or you, because there's an option I call "when do you want to die?") decides on a time to do the update, it will update at that time without asking for user permission. Here's a commuter top tip Microsoft: DON'T DO THIS (period). But that wouldn't bug me that much if it ever managed to actually do it, but noooooooo. It freezes at 32% every bloody time for reasons I can't even imagine. So off to the infinite support forums trying to find the way to solve the issue, but the round-trip time from starting update to freezing point is about an hour, so testing all methods is not something I could dream to finish in this lifetime. It would help, if the Windows update tool had the courtesy of telling me which build it will be trying to install, but it only does so after starting the whole update process.
Oh yeah, and I'm also being plagued by random screen flashes during startup and an error message going "Your hardware settings have changed. Please reboot your computer for these changes to take effect". The internet tells me to delete the video card driver and reinstall it from the manufacturer's website, but I've failed both steps. I told Windows to delete said driver (computer asks me to reboot, because it's always reboot) and voila: driver is there again. Meanwhile the fancy AMD driver installer software pulls the classic "gets to 99% and fails" maneuver.

Do you have a three pin CPU fan connected to a 4 pin header, perhaps? Or the CPU fan connected to something other than the lowest numbered CPU fan header, if you have multiple? Neither will cause major functional issues (the former might cause your CPU fan to run at 100% when not needed, which is annoying but not harmful) but could screw with how the motherboard senses the fan.

It's not doing it any more. It was just on the day I put it back together.

The "power on" light still flickers red sometimes, though. Maybe I should unplug the extra hard drive and see whether that changes anything.

Will cake or tea with cannabis ever be popular?

The cannabis edibles I've had have all been exceedingly strong, to the point that the cookie, brownie, and gummy bears have not tasted very nice at all. But you can obviously make milder ones.

Tea is difficult; thc is not water soluble, so you would need to add it to something else so that it can dissolve. It is, however, soluble and commonly dissolved in butter/milkfat, peanut oil, alcohol, and vegetable glycerine. It also has to be heated high enough and long enough to activate it (decarboxylate), or else it won't have any effect. A lot of baked goods don't get hot enough for long enough to active it all, and they also cook unevenly, and consequently you can get very inconsistent dosage (typically you would want to decarb before baking, but overheating can cause THC to break down as well).

Personally, I say everyone should just vape it. Doesn't smell nearly as much or as bad, and it is significantly less unhealthy.

If this is the case, surely you'd heat the leaves ahead of time? Wouldn't that be easier? Then you could go magic cheesecake or whatever.
