I am about to walk down to the Dollar Theatre and watch a chick-flick that I'm not even that keen on seeing anyway...

I have no idea why.

I need to have smarter friends. Too many of my friends can barely hold a conversation about like middle school level which really clashes when I am used to having conversations with my other friends who are very intelligent and hold high level conversations.

"don't look a gift horse in the mouth"

what does that MEAN? where/how did the saying originate?

I don't know where it comes from, but as I recall it was full as "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth or it will bite you/spit at you."

Am I wrong? Don't remember.

I believe that one studies a horse's teeth and gums to see what kind of health the horse is in. Hence, it would be offensive to do so in front of the gift giver - idiomatically it means "Don't judge the quality of gifts"
phrases.org.uk wrote:Up to a certain age, the age of a horse can be determined by looking at its teeth; though it may appear to be young and frisky, the number or condition of teeth may show it to be almost fit for nothing but the glue-works."

And according to the same, that phrase, or ones like it, is as old as written word, perhaps spoken even longer.

I'm a teenager who could possibly have a car in the next year. I recently started repairing my bike (a BMX) with plans to use it. It's at this point I realise that teenagers on BMX bikes look like complete tools... but I like my BMX and it's quicker than walking. So take THAT, society!

I've realized I look like a tool on the subway A LOT, because I've always got my iPod on, and whatever the song makes me think of, I react to. Since lately I'm listening to mixes about boys, or mixes about missing someone who just moved away, I'm either giggling or on the verge of tears. People on the subway probably think I'm really, really crazy.

I just looked at that regret thing, and the second highest ranking for a regret goes to "wasting your master ball on something shitty like pidgeotto"

I found that hilarious. I'm totally going to play pokemon right now. I'm sure I have a rom somewhere. I regret selling my blue version (and my awesome old GB Pocket that i used to play it on). So many memories...

I have just been informed, unequivocally, that big bras tend to be boring. This doesn't make sense though, surely?

Ok, so I've never really been able to understand the whole breast thing and I've never been able to differentiate size visually but - and correct me if I'm wrong here - there is a rebuttable presumption that guys like bigger breasts. There is also a presumption - which I find stronger - that nice bras are attractive. So why doesn't anyone make nice large bras?

I would imagine because structural concerns become more important with larger sizes, that is, it becomes more important that the garment actually hold and support and not injure you (this being a rhetorical you, as I have no idea whether you are female or large-chested) than that it look nice.

With smaller sizes, where the support job is much less structurally demanding and comfort is much easier to provide, more concern can be given to aesthetics.

and correct me if I'm wrong here - there is a rebuttable presumption that guys like bigger breasts.

You're not wrong, but you're not entirely right.

Some guys like bigger breasts.

However, most guys simply have some range of attractive, where smaller or bigger are theoretically sub-optimum.

Most guys have some standard of "proportional" as well. Many would also prioritize shapeliness above size.

Some have a "bigger is always better" and some have a "smaller is always better" standard, but I imagine both are in the minority.

And many just take things case-by-case.

Generalizing is hard.

How large are we talking? Cause I've got on a 36 D right now that's pink and covered in cute little butterflies and is also a push-up bra. It's hot. All of my bras are hot. Victoria's Secret, yo.

moving away from the bra/breast conversation.............
Once at a semi-formal banquet I burned through close to $100 betting people to take swigs from a really disgusting beverage we had constructed out of the waste from our table. I believe that the base liquid was a half-drunk glass of coke, then we built it up with a couple of meatballs, think a few drumsticks, various condiments (ketchum, soy-sauce, plum sauce, etc), and I think some orange crush was added in there as well, along with several other things that I can't remember. It was seriously disgusting, and expensive for me, but well worth it (for me, not for whoever's job it was to clean up the washrooms afterwards).

Ok, so random thought - it's 4am.

And in reply to ... someone up there about breasts 'n' stuff and my interest, I'm a straight male, which must show convincingly that I'll never understand such things. There is an interesting discussion to be had about breast size preference though. Not today, I feel.

I'm reading a book at the moment called Lord Foul's Bane. In it they talk about understanding seven somethings, I can't really remember. I tend to do a lot of reading just before I go to sleep, you see, and it makes for a lot of forgetting. Anyway, the point is that in the book it seems a lot like they're trying to interpret letter-by-letter/word-by-word an ancient scripture thingie. And a thought occurred to me.

This is like xkcd. Sure, everyone knows it, but do they understand what it means? Those who are enlightened may know the meaning of x and k, but only those of Randallesque proportions[1] understand what xkcd truly means.

(The rest of us just read the comic.)

Also, if you consider a bell curve for breast size, fewer people have huge breasts, so it makes sense that there is a smaller variety. The same would occur for tiny breasts, but if your breasts are that small, you don't need a bra at all. Also, since buxom ladies need bras, i guess it's easier to make them settle on the point of aesthetics.

bra size argument can only be explained by the push for skinny supermodels. most women who are not overweight think that they're horribly fat because everyone wants to look like a freakin supermodel. what is wrong with this country? i blame the media.
