It's Monday again. It's a cold and dark morning again, and I have to get dressed and go to work. Damn Mondays. :(

Every week I see these sorts of posts and it makes me feel a little better because for me, it's Monday, second day of the week. I'm not proud of that feeling (or the feeling of already being in the weekend when you're all working on Friday), but I like it.

FT: If you had to work a 4 day week, which day would you give up? Mondays (because they suck, by definition (except if you are Zohar)), Fridays (so you could have an extra long weekend) or Wednesday to relieve the mid-week blues?

I may be forced into this (if I'm lucky) so I'm genuinely interested. If I'm unlucky then I'll be out of work soon, so it will be the least of my problems.

@HarleyQuinn: Are you looking for votes? I vote for 6.

Definitely Mondays to get a three day weekend. I already get Friday afternoons off.

It's still Sunday here, albeit for only about twenty more minutes. :)

I think I'd take Friday, because it's the day I'm least productive on anyway, and anywhere I've worked it's either been a really super-busy day of stress (retail, where people do pre-weekend shopping), or a somewhat slow day where it's harder to get people on the phone (admin and reception).

I think that taking Monday or Friday would mostly be the same eventually... they'd be different at the start, but once you settle into the new routine, it'd still be 4 days on, 3 days off, and it'd feel the same either way. So more practical considerations would take over... and the first day of the weekend I'm usually pretty dead in the mornings, recovering from the week... and most shops here aren't open on sundays... so it takes a bit of planning for me to get to the shops of a weekend. So I'd choose Monday, just so that after the recovery period, there'd be a weekday where all the shops were open.

I'm not sure whether I'd prefer Monday or Wednesday, though... I think I'd get more work done in a 4-day week than two 2-day ones...

Hmm I wonder if my work would actually allow me a 4 day week in exchange for a 20% pay cut? I can certainly afford it, and they already do "flexi-time", so they might be open to the idea...

Frenzal Rhomb once said, "Monday's made for fighting, Tuesday's made of piss, and if the other three days would go away the weekend would last a week".

I think we can all take something from these words.

Aah, Monday: When no work gets done, consumption of coffee is measured in liters per hour, a pack of smokes isn't enough, when half of the people are missing, and the air in the workshop smells like old booze. I kind of like Monday...

Someone should make a habit of graphing the number of hits certain Wikipedia articles get before and after a new comic goes up. Almost every other comic I have to look something up to understand it.

I slept through my first class this morning, for the 2nd week in a row. I really need to stop doing this, since it's my philosophy class, which I thoroughly enjoy and am considering majoring in. Oh well, time to go to office hours and see what I missed.

I absolutely refuse to believe any same-color optical illusions I see. I am certain that all optical illusions on the web and in real life have conspired with my computer to fool my every attempt to reveal them. For example, any time I paste an image of a same-color illusion onto MS Paint (stop laughing), it sends a signal to Paint to claim that the two colors in question are the same, even when I can clearly see that they're different.

They can't fool me.

I'm curious how much you make. I took a look, but it looks like you only get paid 10 cents per answer -- so even if you do 60 in an hour, that's only $6.00, on 1099 -- which works out to be about $5.50-$5.75 W2 equivalent.

That's not even minimum wage in california, and I'm not sure it still meets federal minimum wage.

8 inch! The big mothers.

Oddly, I think they held less. Much less. But then, I remember as the 5.25 inch floppies held more and more data, going from 35x9x256 to 35x10x256 to 40x10x256 to 40x13x256 (Apple ]['s format) to 40x16x256 (Amiga format) to 40x18x256 ("double density", or ... "2,7" I think it was called) to 80x18x2x256.

Sheesh. Had to use both hands to pick it up, all that data weight...
