Hm. I wouldn't say that school turned me off education. I'd be more likely to say that college did that to me. Now I'm at University, though, so I still haven't learned my lesson yet.

I am a bit of a colonial apologist from time to time, but I am struggling to think of ways it would be worse.
Scientific advancement is hard to quantify what would or would not have happened had certain people not been in certain places. No tomato, potato, chili pepper or corn products is the main definite I can come up with.

Really, all of the scenarios I can come up with don't rely on if contact with the New World happened, but When it happened. Unless we're talking about a strange future that has Europeans, Africans and Asians using GPS devices while the natives of the Great Plains still hunt buffalo on foot and the Aztecs being the primary power in the New World.

Well, it's arguable that the Aztecs would be the only power in the New World. They were expanding rapidly in the century before the arrival of the Spaniards, and had even retconned a manifest destiny concept into their religion (god-whose-name-I-can't-remember-but-it-sounds-like-hopscotch tasked them with uniting humankind under one religious and governmental body in order to ensure long-term peace).

Well, it's only been 500 years, but they had the military and cultural capacity to dominate the Americas, with a bit more time.

Man, £2.50 for hangovercureinnabap and I get free complementary coffee? Some things in life are epic!

This hangover, this is not epic. Also our living room smells of a concoction of stale alcohols.

GY!BE, definately epic.

Also, I'm off to get fondled.

The smell of stale alcohols really is the cherry on top that makes any self-respecting hangover.

Good hangover cure: 20 minute cycle (including several hills in both directions) to the river, followed by a 20 minute plus ordeal with a boat being the wrong way in the boat house and the water by the usual landing stage being too low and having to go the long way around to the other landing stage because of some building stuff, followed by a 2 hour slightly disastrous outing, including running into a bridge once and the bank several times and being shouted at by another crew's coach, followed by getting back to the boathouse to discover your coach has lost the key and having to stand there holding the boat until someone with a key comes along and lets you in.

...I wouldn't really recommend it, though.

Waking up and realising your sweat smells of alcohol is definitely one of the criteria for a serious hangover.

I know I'm late to the party, but what's the deal with the forums.xkcd, versus the echochamber ones? The echochamber ones are giving me a 503 error at present, and the regular ones are blocked by I.E.(fucking IT).

forums.xkcd.com is the only official one. The others are mirrors, not supported, not guaranteed to work, and may simply stop working at any time due to davean removing the forwards.

Well crap. I started using echochamber when the normal forums were having major issues. Then the normal ones got blocked at work. I can access them via Firefox, but that's just another headache. Boo!

Also, I am annoyed right now. Texted with a girl(who I went out with Monday night, and have plans with Saturday) for a while, and she mentioned she was just hanging out at home tonight, like I was. I asked if she would like to do something together. No response for over an hour now, when previous texts received responses in minutes.

I also assume people don't run out of credit. At my age and location, a large majority of girls I meet have unlimited texting.
