Today I saw "the great dictator". Well most of it anyways.
We recorded it a while ago, but unfortunately the last scenes didn't get recorded...

That sucks, man. The Great Dictator is to good a movie (imo) to not have seen completely.

On a different note: this might be the first messageboard I frequent (or plan to anyway) where I'm among the least intellectual. Let's see how this works out :)
It'll probably be more enriching than those messageboards I'm on where I'm among the most intellectual.

Discovery is a sad travesty of what it used to be. It used to be about science and discovery, now at best they're just blowing stuff. I mean, Cash Cab. Just ...?! What the hell?! Really?

I'm all for being active and doing more with your life, but it's still kind of baffling to think that no matter what you do, you'll be experiencing less than a billionth of a fraction of a percent of Things That Are Happening Right Now... There are potentially millions of interesting things going on right now on random sites/forums/*chans/Tumblrs/etc, but I can't participate in all of them. And that's just the internet. It's a little frustrating.

Then again, video games have turned me into a bit of a perfectionist.

I wish I had baby teeth again, only because I loved the feeling of wiggling them when they were loose and ripping them out, and the bloody hole they left. I despise mouth pain, but I loved that feeling somehow. e_e

Sturgeon's Law is the only thing that can save you.

As far as video games go, most modern online multiplayer games don't ever "end", so I just think, "If I'm never even going to 'finish' this ONE GAME, why should I worry about 'finishing' a list of things I want to do?" The only games I'm even remotely interested in playing are BFBC2, LOTRO (I already play those two), Civ5, and Portal 2.

And movies? There are probably more of those, but my family's Netflix queue is so full of stuff I have no interest in. (My want-to-see list includes the {approximately} 73rd time watching LOTR {and I've gotten to 6 already}).

After this, therefore on account of this. Holy shit, I did that without looking it up. Six semesters worth of Latin to translate random quote on a forum....

Eh, it was worth it.

Oh, also - correlation is not causality.

Briareos wrote:"Post -- after -- after hoc, ergo -- after hoc, therefore, something else hoc."

"After this, therefore because of this". There's also "Cum hoc ergo propter hoc" for when order isn't obvious, and, more generally, correlation does not imply causation.

[edit] Bah, ninjaed to all hell.

When pluralizing abbreviations, does the period go before or after the s?

ie: abbr.s v. abbrs.?

Sitting here holding my eyelid off my eye to keep it from itching because of these goddamn allergies. Watching my prospects for sleep slip away because the person who knows where the fucking eyedrops are is asleep. Fuck my life.

EDIT - Apparently holding the eyelid down works just as well as holding it open. No clue why, but it might let me get to sleep.

I was just listening to a song called The Northern Cobbler by Crippled Black Phoenix. I giggled a bit when the old man's voice said "babby." The song apparently uses this for words.
Meä an’ thy sister was married, when wur it? back-end o’ June,
Ten year sin’, and wa ’greed as well as a fiddle i’ tune:
I could fettle and clump owd booöts and shoes wi’ the best on ’em all,
As fer as fro’ Thursby thurn hup to Harmsby and Hutterby Hall.
We was busy as beeäs i’ the bloom an’ ’appy as ’art could think,
An’ then the babby wur burn, and then I taäkes to the drink.

I must be tired. I just spent five minutes wondering why there was a red bar below the word 'implementating'. Literally, I sat there wondering what was wrong with the word. Implementating exists, Shirley? It started out with me changing the phrase "you will ensure implementation of" to "you will be implementating".

Great, now implement, implementing and implementation has ceased all meaning in my head. My reject has brained it as a word. It is now an alien. Sometimes I work too hard.

A C-17 crashed here on base last night, killing all four Airmen aboard. It happened shortly before I left for work, so when I saw the black smoke cloud on my way to work, I figured it was just a fire or something. I didn't find out exactly what had happened until I got to work. :(

Any heat is bad, but humid heat is what really kills me. There's just no way to get comfortable in that kind of heat, unless you can get in a swimming pool in a shaded area.

There's a reason.

Do you recall playing Rage of Mages with better graphics and an odd base building minigame?

I don't even know what Rage of Mages is.

I have a vague recollection of commanding a bunch of night elves on some snowy landmass. That's about as far as it goes. Hell I can remember the upgrade paths for the knights and death knights in WC2. I don't remember WC3.

I do that with orientation/orientating/orienting sometimes. I'm pretty sure orientating isn't a word (though I don't have ffox so no inline spellcheck here)

Orientate and orientating are words. They're useful since Orient can refer to East Asian things, though I'm not quite sure what meaning "orienting" would take on in that line of thinking...
