Halo 3 Flavored Moutain Dew

Postby Gifflen » Mon Aug 27, 2007 9:35 pm UTC

So I was decided to finally pick one of these up out of pure curiosity and give it a try.

I take a sip and I already have tasted this before. Exactly as is. This is something I've known since my childhood.

Is it just me or do these things taste EXACTLY like melted wild cherry Slurpee/Icee/you know the deal.

I wasn't aware that Halo 3 could be a flavor. Aside from that, I'm surprised i haven't heard about these things until now.

I think it's a ridiculous *concept* let alone actually making and marketing an energy drink aimed at gamers.
Totally not a hypothetical...

Now I want other video game flavored drinks.
Like Zelda flavored cola - it'd be greenish yellow and taste like quince (or would that have to be Dragon Warrior?)
or Katamari Damacy flavored cola, which would probably taste like every single slushie flavor mixed together, and have candies floating in it.

What would Metroid flavored cola taste like?

Actually Blind Visionary, it is sweat from Spartan-117, the blood of Elites, the icky orange stuff from hunters, with a bunch of dead marines who didn't make the trip.

Oh yeah, it also has some DNA from Sarge to protect you from a enormous thermonuclear explosion in the event you crashland on a ring-like object and find the need to destroy it due to little creatures called "Flood" who will come and maul you horribly.

God I hope they never make a sonic flavored drink. Nobody wants to drink liquid roadkill.

Nah, sonic would taste like blue raspberry and amphetamines. Pure, high-grade amphetamines.
Now that, I'd almost like to see... see someone ELSE drink, that is. Only not at all.

What would Mario flavored taste like? I can see it as a combo with Luigi flavored sodas.

Cherry and Strawberry with a hint of oregano, and some Lime and Banana...thing. And one would be taller than the other.

On another note, I was sigged!

Actually, if I can remember far enough back.. I should know what "Mario" and "Luigi" cola's should taste like... because they existed .

Waaaaay back before I was in middle school (Holy hell, that's over a decade ago. o.o), there were these mario-themed drinks by... Shasta, I believe? There was a Mario Flavor, a Luigi Flavor, a Princess Peach flavor, a Yoshi Flavor... I can't remember what else.

*Goes to google*

Ah! Those *were* the only four flavors!

On the topic of video-game-themed drinks, I hear Final Fantasy Potion tasted terrible.

not long ago i was giving deep thought to the things around me

and labeled bawls and cherry bawls as the blue and red potions from zelda

but fuck halo 3, of all the games to get a drink it had to be the third in a series of shit flavored games

Even as I read your post I was thinking, "if it was so long ago, her name probably would have been Toadstool, not Peach." And then your link confirmed it.

Those drinks are from the Super Mario World (SNES) era. I don't think our beloved princess got rebranded 'Peach' until Mario 64.

Is her full name Peach Toadstool? Is that how they justified the change?

First usage of "Peach" was in Yoshi's Safari (SNES). Don't feel bad about it, I didn't know either until I saw the article on Wikipedia...wait a second...

I really hate Mountain Dew, so there's really no reason for me to buy a Halo flavored Mountain Dew. I do own 8 promo Mountain Dew bottles though.

It tastes exactly like that, but with a little bit of regular Mountain Dew in it. And lots of caffeine. And it's a little more sour, and a little less sweet...

And technically, it's "Game Fuel"

I'm totally going to go buy a pack of it once Halo 3 hits the shelves, and drink all of it while playing Legendary mode.

Best tasting drink-based-on-a-video-game-or-cartoon:

Ecto Hi-C, the one with Slimer from Ghostbusters on the box. That stuff was awesome.

Oddest property to base a drink on:

Tetes a Claque (talking heads), an internet talking heads comedy thing popular only in Quebec.

See my favorite Tetes a Claque skit here (knowledge of French recommended but not necessary):

No, it's not even the souped-upedness of MDX. They just added a citrus taste to the cherry taste of code red. It's quite good.

I'm still very angry with Mountain Dew. An ad agency hired to me help to them brainstorm ideas to promote the dew. We brainstormed for a few weeks and sent them a number of ideas and sketches.

MD, then declined to hire the ad agency, but still used the ideas.

That sounds quite good...of course the chances of finding it here are pretty much none, so I kinda wish I hadn't found out about it now.

Mountain Dew Code Red was amazing. Does it still exist? I think it was still around when I moved, but I don't remember noticing it when I've been back in the States...
