Postby __Kit » Mon Sep 10, 2007 6:08 am UTC

Wanting what you can't have. What's something you've *always* wanted, preferably material objects, and preferably nerdy, obscure, or generally 'cool' things.

I've *always* want a really nice leather jacket, with, like, a dragon on it, or something, and a Led Zeppelin medallion with the 'Swan Song' symbol, of Icarus.

Here's a nerdy want: a girlfriend.

I want one that's just as obsessed with me as I her. :(

My current will spend time with her friends instead of me in a heartbeat if we've seen/are going to see each other within a reasonable amount of time before or after said friend-meet. If that sentence was coherent in any way, let me know.

A Beechcraft Starship. Beechcraft Corp. only ever made 53 of them in 1989, and no one bought them, because they were way too expensive compared to other private aircraft of similar performance. But god damn, they are fucking beautiful. There are only five operational ones left :( . Here's a pretty picture of one in flight.

Sorry, maybe next time.

I second the girlfriend though. And I also hate it that my sister already has that Neutral Milk Hotel cd that I'd want, but it seems kind of pointless getting it when there's already one copy in the house.

Cyborg implants. Super strength, and a jetpack. A "cyber eye" that lets me see in different wavelengths, so I could see ultraviolent or infra dead. A machine in my head that gave me a permanent and superfast connection to the internet, that I could access and control by thinking. An Invisibility Cloak. A flying machine. A baby brother. Charisma. A chrysknife, a kukri without a broken handle, a forge, skillz sufficient to make a Damascus blade sabre, a katana.

All this is pretty much unobtainable though, being impossible, prohibitively expensive, or against my personal beliefs of non-materialism and pacifism. Forge and skillz are the only realistic ones, it seems.

That's how a friend of mine was through high school. If she hadn't always run off to join her friends we probably would have dated, and who knows...

We never had classes together, nor did we have the same lunch period half the time. Only time we really saw each other was at any school assembly, like pep rallies and the like. We'd sit together for a few minutes, but then one of her friends would come along and tell her to come sit with them instead. She'd obey, and leave me alone with no one else to sit with.

As for my wants...besides the nerdy want of a girlfriend:

A leather jacket (someone else mentioned that). I had one once that was pretty good, but the damn dog I had ripped it when he tried to play with me.

A late-50s Mustang or Chevy Convertible, but not with the original engine. Preferably a more modern gas-saving engine. Red, blue, or silver paint will suffice. Also it must have other modern accessories. I just want the damn body and spirit of the late-50s convertible. Leather seats. Full backseat.

A decent-paying job where I actually have some work to do that I enjoy, preferably within the same distance from home.

I absurdly want to buy a guitar, a nintendo DS, and a directx 10 capable computer in that order. The guitar would probably be a telecaster. I could get the wicked awesome flying v (or one of the copy-offs) but I feel that they are also a bit silly. *sigh* Damn you cash inflow problem!

Oh and a pair of victorian gloves would be nice but I'm getting them later.

...to be A LUMBER JACK!

Ok, in all seriousness, a productive person who is motivated and knows neat stuff. Also to be artistically and creatively driven.

Ideally to be a film maker, that's the big one. But I admire smart geeky motivated people SO much! I think what they do is SO cool, and to get along with them and feel comfortable with it all is difficult without ACTUALLY being one of them.

A place where I can go to live in solitude for as long as I like, where I can get away from the annoyances of modern politics in all forms, where I can just sit on a beach and read, paint, watch, or just sit and nothing else. A place where, when I'm doing this, the fact that I am isolating myself from the rest of the world, nay, the rest of the Universe, doesn't matter. There are no consequences. I can go back whenever I want and it will be exactly the same.

In this place I can take whoever I like along, and show them how incredibly insignificant all the things that bother us day-to-day are if we just forget them and appreciate the fact that we are alive and we have the ability to enjoy it.

That would be amazing...

I've always wanted a full tactical outfit (BDU, vest, harness, holsters, etc.) just so if I ever need to combat the undead, I'll at least be somewhat prepared. ...and probably a *finished* ghillie suit, as my current one is in a perpetual state of 'not-done'

Also, a parachute and skydiving license to boot, so when my friends ask me where I'm off to on the weekend, I can hoist the container and say "jumpin out of a plane, be back later"

..and a significant other.

I'd like to test drive a bunch of really nice sports cars, then have the best one. Driving for pleasure is... pleasurable.

I'd like a fully-kitted out kitchen, with two big fridges, one for drinks, and one for food, 6 gas hobs, a big oven, and lots and lots of bench space.

I'd like an enormous sound system, like this one:
