Well from what I understand the comic updates automatically at midnight... provided there is a comic in the queue. (correct me if i'm wrong, those who know more.) It's completely possible there was a file naming error or something more/less sinister, and he went to bed before midnight, thereby not knowing there was a problem. Meaning that we might not see the comic until he wakes up!

He's obviously just waiting for one of you 1337 h4x0rz to update the sign.

Maybe we'll see a new post when that sign flips back to 00.

I suppose we can always hope, but I don't think that's the case... I think it's much more likely that there's a Y(2K+8-1/365) bug.

There went that theory. Maybe you forgot to carry a 3.
Personally, I think the writers' strike is behind it.

The only explanation I can imagine is that Randall is saving up one of the greatest comics ever to give us at the birth of 2008, thus setting in motion the year in which mankind solves global warming, hunger, war and corporate greed. He must postpone his post by 24 hours to accomplish this.

Aw. I came here to post that Decorum was sympathizing with us, but was beaten to it. Thank goodness it came back.

No xkcd for a little while is exactly infinity times better than ANY Cathy, for ANY while. Word.

This is true. My apologies, I wasn't in my right mind.
"Don't you see?!"

"Get out of my bed, Randall, I'm trying to sleep!"

Your results may vary.

Very nice.

On a side note, now that there's a real thread for the comic that did show up, does a Moderator want to do something to this thread? It doesn't really fit with the rules... if I get any say in the matter (which I'm sure I don't, but I'll give my opinion anyway :) ), I'd prefer a lock and/or a move (as opposed to a deletion) as to remind us of what happens to our sanity without xkcd.
